I said what SHOULD happen, not what I expect will happen.

But what I am saying is what difference does it make if we have a President of Hockey Operations?

Do you trust Pegula to hire a good one? I sure don’t.

The cycle will not be broke until Terry Pegula sells this hockey team and someone that knows what the f*** they are doing is sitting in the owners box.

Anyone still want to take the position that Adams’ lack of action was the right call? That his plan is on track? That he’s set then up for success?

Sadly I have come to this conclusion as well.

I think he had one in Pat Lafontaine. The story behind the non-disclosure agreement would likely tell all.........

Kevyn Adams thought we were Connor Clifton and Eric Johnson away from making the playoffs this season. Hahahahhahahsha
I think that just about sums it all up........

Has Adams ever answered why he doesn't think having a good goaltender is important? Has anybody ever asked him?
When asked during training camp, Adams boasted that goaltending is "a position of strength". An updated assessment would be useful.

(Both goalies played poorly, obviously but they were let down tonight by skaters who played even worse in front of them.)

I'd settle for an owner who happily lets competent professionals run his vanity project.

I do wonder if he regrets not “mortgaging the future” to get a few more points. A playoff berth last year probably lengthens his rope for this mess

TT and Okposo always tell the press the same shit... we know we have to work harder... we know what to do... the opponent had more momentum... blah blah blah blah blah... me I can't hear these damn excuses anymore. They've been making themselves unbelievable for a long time, at least for me. Then it finally makes it better when you know why it doesn't work at home and you get hit with a lot of regularity. In reality, they don't give a damn whether the fans are happy or not. It's a small, tight-knit family band including granato and adams who don't want to hurt each other. Just put it that way, even if not everyone here will like it. 13 years no playoffs, two rebuilds completed during this time, still the same rubbish and listlessness that they show on the ice, soft to the point of abandonment. Just a loser mentality

I hear you man. Its frustrating when people defend Adams and Granato when they have accomplished nothing..

Abso-fawking-lutely! And I don't even like Adams that much :D

The cost for an upgrade last off-season was Benson + +

With 20/20 hindsight, I have zero desire to go back and move Benson for a short term upgrade or a cap destroying overpay, which was realistically all you were going to get.

And for the Jambronis that still believe bringing in a goalie retread and an upgrade on Jokiharju would have made this team a playoff team, all I can say is "give your balls a tug, Sanguinet!".

One or two players are not going to fix the team issues. The crime was not upgrading any of the coaching, which is still a huge issue. This team has a lot of great pieces, and is just a few tweaks and a new coaching philosophy away from being special.

We've all seen them play outstanding hockey. They are inconsistent and struggle against certain systems. They never adjust. That is strictly a coaching issue. The roster is still heading in the right directions despite the poor play as of late.

Many fans and media jumped on this bandwagon. I couldn’t understand. It was a terrible offseason and no one said anything.

Where do you get that? Who told you the cost is Benson++
You are just pulling shit out of a hat.

Until the GM shifts gears from building to competing, the team will be a team that is not built to compete for the playoffs.

Adams bet on running back 90%+ of last year's roster being good enough and it hasn't been close.

Now it is up to Adams making a move that matters.

I agree with everything you said. IMO many are upset cause the team was slow close last year that all they needed was an upgrade in net, another top forward and a top 4 d-man. If they added that they would still be in the same position as they are now.

To make a meaningful upgrade, it likely would have cost their 2023 1st round pick (that was used on Benson) + more.

Trying to trade futures for immediate veteran help looks like giving up a pick that can turn out great, or an underdeveloped prospect that turns out great in the long run, for immediate help.

One of the biggest win-win prospect for vet trades ever was Calgary trading veteran top 6 C Joe Nieuwendyk to Dallas for Corey Millen and the first player that the Stars drafted after moving to Dallas: Jarome Iginla. Iginla was a Stars prospect for all of 5 months and 11 days before he was traded.

I think both teams were happy with how it worked out. But, Dallas did have to give up a prospect that turned into a HHOF to get a solid vet.

Rosen Kulich 2025 first should be in play. 2024 at draft should be in play. Pick up some good CONSISTENT players that battle on boards, play the body, and go to the net.

Need players that are valuable away from the puck. VO, Mitts and any expiring players should be gone at deadline.

I wish Adams was Germanys fuhrer between 1934-1945. He would have done a great job not causing as much harm as Hitler.
A guy that can't find a goaltender in 4 years likely won't cause world war 2.

I don't see Pegula firing Adams/Granato. I think selling the team is almost as likely.

My take is too much emphasis on the future and not enough on right now. I know there isn't a huge appetite to trade away top prospects but we wont even have enough roster spots to give these guys an opportunity.

This year benson
Next year Kulich Rosen savoie
Year after ostlund Wahlberg 24 1st etc..

We need to see a little bit of Tim Murray right now. I don't think Adams needs to go but it should be made clear to him going into next season that if he doesn't make the playoffs he's gone.

"The more I find out about this Adams guy the more I don't like 'em!"

Hoarding assets, using draft picks, and extending players is the easy part. Most participants in this forum could do a passable job at that with a rudimentary support staff like the Sabres have.

Adams and the crew have no idea how to build an actual stratified NHL roster. No idea on coach/staff either. They are stuck in this asset hoarding stage.

There is an aversion to make tough decisions as well. The coach should have been fired weeks ago, but a performance like last night with this season thusfar gets 31 other coaches fired. They need to hang onto all 3 goalies, dress 7 d-men. Needed to re-sign Okposo and Girgensons. Held onto worthless VO like a bad penny. Held onto all the underqualified assistant coaches.
