As much as Kevyn Adams is just totally inept at this job, it’s also notable to me that there are multiple NHL teams in free fall and no serious moves are happening. NHL GMs are just cowards.

Chad is having a meltdown

This needs more steam. This should’ve been the main story in every bit of Sabres reporting over the last however many years. It needs to become common knowledge in ALL hockey circles that the team won’t pay for coaches, won’t hire a full scouting staff, and how virtually nobody in their front office sans Karmanos has even had a job in professional hockey outside of Buffalo.

Well never get it from the team due to the despicable censorship.

I’m pretty sure the hockey world (Owners/team executives/agents/etc) are well aware of this. If you mean fans, then I agree. But I don’t see how getting the word to them will change things.

Scathing report.
It shouldn't be a news flash.

Everyone knows about how Adams had to slash staff on day one as GM. And the media has reported consistently on how thin certain areas of the hockey department have been since then, including the Sabres having one of the smallest pro scouting staffs in the entire NHL.

Chad D said it on a podcast in the last couple of weeks and it sums it up well for me:

The Sabres are an Unserious Organization.

Pegula actually hiring someone like Ken Holland and giving him the control and the ability to fully staff the hockey operations of the franchise is a pipedream. There are no indications that Pegula has any interest in turning the Sabres into a Serious Organization anytime soon.

I agree 100%. Pegula seems incapable of admitting fault and seems to think he is the smartest guy in the room because of money.

This team cannot be saved. The only thing that could change the course is a press conference, an apology, a promise to get better, and an introduction to the new team president who doesn't have restrictions and preconditions.

Id be less surprised if they were sold

Kevyn Adams, being a discount GM, has staffed the organization with discount AGMs and discount scouting directors. Elevating the ridiculously inexperienced Crowe to head of both pro and amateur scouting, while wasting resources (in an attempt to save resources) into the sham enterprise of hockey anal-lytics (Karmanos, Ventura) has produced exactly zero interesting prospects outside the first two rounds of the draft and exactly zero diamonds in the rough in terms of minor UFA signings.

And WTF is up with this coaching staff? Every interesting prospect seems to deteriorate over time the longer they're exposed to these coaches. Every young defensemen has gotten worse, like Power and Samuelsson, and forwards such as Cozens, Quinn, and Peterka seem to get dumber and weaker with each passing shift. Miraculously Benson has seemed to escape this trend, but don't think for one instant this staff ain't doing the damndest to tank his game too.

You can't just launch Adams into the sun without strapping 3/4 of the guys underneath him to his back. The dysfunction runs deep.

So, I think it should be pointed out that typically media members sources are the GMs and agents.

So you rarely see major media pile on a GM (or an organization) because you are potentially burning bridges. Any criticism is usually surrounded by caveats and trying to paint the GM in a decent light.

The fact that there is almost near fear of bridge burning with the criticism of the Sabres is that most must feel:

1. Adams is on his way out
2. Adams isn't going to pop up elsewhere in the future.

Could also pretty much verify that Adams himself is no source......which we all pretty much already knew.

I'm reasonably certain that Adams has been direct sources on a lot of things.

Pretty much everytime we hear a new big name is on the trade block, it gets leaked out that Adams called about that name. Then when asked about it later Adams is always "Well you know its my job to try to improve my team, so I'm always calling"

That's Adams putting his name out there to get the fans excited so media will ask him about it later so he can pat himself on the back for being 'diligent'

The Calgary trade "leak" that happened hours before the Eichel trade was 100% Adams trying to get Vegas to up the price before the morning interview Eichel had scheduled. Quite possibly the most transparent and laughable attempt at it I've seen, and I'm sure he burned a bridge with Calgary with that stunt as they had to go re-assure the players mentioned.

National discourse is on a massive uptick. Obviously every local podcast/coverage site is in overload…but, having not listened to them yet, the latest two National podcasts in my feed are titled “The Answer is in the Room” from Puck Soup and a slightly less subtle “Why Buffalo won’t win until Pegula sells the Sabres” from the Athletic podcast.

It might seem like nothing but a large part of Adams job is to insulate Terry from criticism. The flying to Montreal only to watch the team get trounced and fall to last place bit has moved the blame to Pegula in places he isn’t going to like being mocked. Which is…everywhere.

Clock is ticking.
