There actually was a plan and it wasn't a bad one. Sign Reimer as backup to UPL while Levi continues to develop. The frustrating thing is he deviated from that plan.
It only is a problem if it becomes a problem
But, if one of those 2 get hurt or under perform we currently have no NHL ready option to call upon.

He was such a Mickey Mouse hire in the first place. Can we get a professional to run this hockey team?
I want him gone as much as the next guy, but who are you replacing him with at this point of the year?

And it wouldn’t make a difference. Whoever takes the job would have to convince TPegs that a five year plan he blessed was folly. Would TPegs allow the new guy to trade those players “who want to be here” for guys that want to win? Doubtful. Would TPegs allow the new guy to hire a new coach and let that coach hire his own staff? Highly doubtful. And lastly, assuming you could find a trade partner it is likely that the player(s) sought would nix any deal via NTC. The organic model was folly from the start and now is the only viable path going forward. It will take extreme luck and a lot of time for this group to luck in to the post season and even then it will be fleeting.

A lot of people will want the GM job. At the very least, you could put Karmanos and Ventura in there for the time being and see what happens.

If nothing else, firing Adams will tell fans that doing less than is needed year after year is not acceptable. It will tell the next guy that doing nothing is not an option.
Not firing Adams will just tell everyone he’s doing a totally acceptable job. Which means saving money is the only goal he needs to achieve to keep the job.
Because here it is as simple as it can be. If he really has every resource available to him as he claims…then failing again will be the end of the line.

Just shuffling deck chairs. If things get bad enough to fire Adams, you get someone to come in and clean sweep the top levels. Everyone that has been hired by Adams isn't going to do anything drastically different. The last thing we want is another Pegula rushed hire.
Maybe Terry and Kim will hire a 3rd party to help with the search this offseason.

There are always options if they wanted to make a change. There are many people out there more equipped to be an NHL GM than kevyn adams. You can always interim karmanos and tell him not to do anything rash until a new president is hired and he gets his own pink slip too.
My favorite idea is to give Poile a dollar amount he can't refuse to build the organization and bring his rolodex and credibility. Maybe see if you can hire Rick dudley out of his panthers role to do that.
Sadly though, there will not be any major changes in the foreseeable future. Pegula will only work with those who he is comfortable with, and who are comfortable with him taking notes, and sharing his ideas daily. If the fans reject the team enough, and the media gets ugly (pegula has declawed the local sports media), they may change adams' job title, and make one of the internal underlings GM, along with appert (and his power play) from brockport state or whatever the head coach. Jakubowski and forton would somehow get promotions, and nightingale, Crowe, and the rest would still somehow keep existing and running departments despite not being qualified.
I would say we could see Ruff get promoted as president or gm. It would be horrible, but bobblehead fans would eat it up for awhile and we would have to wait another 4-5 years for that to prove out

t some point we will have a desperate GM on our hands looking to make moves to save his job….so it can get worse.

They leaned on the NHL in the processes that got them Murray and Botterill.
Those two hires soured them so badly on the NHL's advice that they went with "their guy" in Adams the third time around.
I wonder if there is a 3rd party out there that they would trust.

KA clearly replaced Skinner with Zucker. Goal scoring for a vet "two-way" guy. That's what you call guys on the downside of their career when they can't score so much anymore..."two-way". Now obviously any player is two-way compared to Skinner, but Zucker is not replacing his production, so it's a push at best. And there's no good way to improve on that scenario with the buy-out penalty the next couple years.
If that doesn't get you excited though, let's talk about Mitts' replacement! When you fail to realize the value of C depth and over rate "your guys" that you just handed big contracts to, and trade the best two-way C on the roster that has better hands/vision/playmaking ability than any other FW, you go right out and replace that guy the only way possible...you get a guy with SPEED BURSTS. When defensive hustle, board work, TOs, and creating offense for your teammates isn't enough, you have to go big with SPEED BURSTS! That category is right next to W/L/PTS in the standings...for some people.
So yeah they were "replaced", but cutting out the sarcasm, it was easily a net loss because while the 4th line is faster and better at neutralizing their match-up, the scoring lines are weaker, dumber, and less effective. So what did KA gain for the team this summer...a marginally better defensive team that can't generate offense the right way. He's embraced mediocrity by not being able to accurately assess his roster.

Well, I meant I didn't replace their products. Although again he has not found a legit and good top 6 forward and has not been able to find a top 4 RD for many years.
Absolutely true, but that cap space is sitting there just waiting to be capitalized on. I just can't wait!!!
