Not sure what to think of this deal. Lost track of him and honestly thought he had retired 2 seasons ago.

Seems like a classic depth signing but lilely means one of Forbort or Gryz are definitely moved.

He has no roster guarantee. If he performs - great. If not he gets waived to Prov and cap hit basically gonzo.

I don't see what's to be upset about. And I have zero expectations, but it's a lottery ticket. 1% chance he has a resurgence and is very effective. 20% he's alright enough to be a regular 3rd pairing guy. 30% he's a healthy scratch most of the year who provides some leadership and mentorship in the room, 49% chance he's totally washed and they just waive him.

It's like Stralman with a slightly higher ceiling. Easily fungible contract. I don't think he's going to block Zboril or Lohrei's development by being there.

Geekie was the one signing today we should have some expectations and maybe some excitement about. Looch we know and where he fits. Shatty and JVR are insurance pieces- guys that can play some NHL minutes, might surprise us, but who can also be easily waived and 100% salary buried if needed. And at one year each.
