And come within mere feet of drilling his teammate? I hate Ovechkin probably more than is healthy but come on, there's no way that was intentional.

Okay, ill ask again. How often does a player get hit up high with a dump in from the behind the red line? The is a world class player, he dumps the puck in 30x a game without it hitting someone up high.

He is shooting it towards the net. The moment he releases the shot, a teammate of him is skating right in front of Klein. If he shot that with the intent to injure, as you suggest, he is not only a great skater, but a world-class physicist as well

Okay, you guys have your opinion, I have mine. You NEVER see someone getting hit above the waste one a "shot" from your side of the red line.

Regardless it was a stupid, reckless shot/dump in that wasnt needed because he knew he wasnt scoring a goal from there anyway. AO just being a baby cause his team was about to lose.

It was a freak accident on a hard dump in towards the net.

Nothing stupid or reckless about it.

To be fair, it looks like he's shooting that straight on net.

Ovechkin is an idiot but there wasn't any malice in that shot. I have gotten beaned in the head at the end of a game basically the same way by an idiot. He is just doing what he always does, trying to score and not giving 3 ***** about the situation and how many open team mates he has.

It's not that ovechkin meant to hit Klein. It's that he didn't mean to just simply dump the puck in.

He's a reckless player and this is just another example. You don't just fire a a wrist shot head high without even looking.

He's an idiot, and while there's no malice in the play there is a bit of recklessness.

Holy crap people get your panties out of a bunch and stop whining about Ovechkin. He shot the puck in. It's hockey, you are supposed to shoot the puck at the net. He did exactly what hockey players do.

It sucks Klein got hurt but stop acting butt hurt like it's someones fault.

Not necessarily. It usually takes 4-6 weeks for a broken bone fully heal. He's at about 5weeks so he's right around there. They are probably waiting for the bone to fully heal instead of rushing him back. Do you want him back for Game 1 before he's fully ready and re-injuries the arm again?

And enough about AO intentionally doing this. I hate him as much as anyone, but come on

The AO speculation is baseless. I can't stand his high hit, charging ass, but no way he had any bad intentions with that shot.

Let Klein come back when he's 100%. Hunwick has been fine filling in, and PIT isn't the type of heavy, physical team he tends to struggle with.

Thx for straightening everyone out.

Ill reserve my disgust for AO the next time he checks McDonaugh head first into the boards in the 2nd round.

Your right guys, I apologize. I forgot how often players get shot at with a puck from from shots from the far blue line. And this is AO we are talking about, he would never go out of his way to injure a player. Silly me.

honestly, i don't follow the players on other teams too much. but i dont consider AO to have any reputation for hurting others. the guy is a horse similar to kreider. he is tough to bring down and he delivers serious hits. plus he scores a **** ton. i think any anger towards him stems from jealousy. he's a brilliant offensive hockey player. i'll admit myself that i'm jealous he isn't on our team. i'm not too old, but he's one of the greatest ive seen.

I think ovechkin was actually trying to put the puck on goal there. Just trying to make something happen. He wasnt trying to injure Klein.

And even if he *wanted* to injure Klein, what he did was so random as to absolve him of any blame. Like if you shot a gun in the air and the bullet randomly fell on your enemy. Hard to say its anything more than bad luck and, sure, recklessness. But further causality is a stretch at best.

Like you said, Ovi dumps/shoots the puck in to the o-zone 30x a night. On that particular occasion where it haphazardly hit Klein (while avoiding 2 closer Rangers and just barely misses nailing his own teammate) about 40 feet away, he chose a different option than what he usually does, much like many players make decisions on the fly over the course of a game. Klein is coming back, he's not dead, and the Caps are a non-issue. Relax.
