One thru six, I don't care how you pair them up, the Rangers defence is DEEP

McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, Klein, Boyle and Yandle

1 thru 6 I don't think there's a deeper defence in the league.

Top end, other teams may be better, but 4-5-6 I think the Rangers are superior to everyone

How I feel.

How I feel.

And in a long playoff run that is what matters the most. The minutes can be balanced out more. McDonagh and Girardi were run down in the 2011-2012 playoffs, especially after the Caps series. Not to mention Bickel was the #6 and was barely used because he wasn't trusted.

This may be the best 1-6 defensive set the Rangers have ever had.

“@PLeonardNYDN: Vigneault says Kevin Klein won't play today or Saturday. Right now his expectation is he'll be back for Game 1 of first round next Thursday”

Best not to rush him. I am guessing that a healthy, rested, rusty Klein will be better than Hunwick at his best.

Hunwick hasn't been that bad imo, its just that Klein is really solid.

In the playoffs - I could see it posing a problem for Hunwick though. Its a "bigger" game and although he feeds nicely into the Rangers speed game you would much rather have Klein at 85% than Hunwick. I don't want to make Hunwick out to be a scrub though. I think he's been a decent defender for this team.

Big plus that Klein has another full week to get ready for Game 1 though. He can work out some of his rustiness in an up tempo practice or two next week. No reason to rush him back if he's not ready. Confidence could be an issue with the top hand being the one that was broken.

Klein not on for Rangers. Staal with Boyle, Yandle with Hunwick.

Well that sucks

But...Dare I say: "It's only the Penguins, so no biggie. Take the next week or two if you need it, Kevin"

It's getting real frustrating hearing about how guys like Kane are set to return earlier than expected but meanwhile our guys frequently are out past the long-term predictions our medical staff throws out there (I say "throw" because with their accuracy it's hardly anything more than that).

Like who?

Pretty much everyone who got hurt this year returned right on schedule except for maybe Klein (just because he wasn't on the ice today doesn't mean he won't be ready come Thursday.)

Don't even bring up Lundqvist because he truly had no timetable.

exactly lol. it is becoming readily apparent the more I read posts on this forum that many people here are entirely reactionary and dont put much if any thought into their posts

Damn, I was really hoping to see a healthy Klein out there for game 1. Rolling into the playoffs as the number 1 seed with a completely healthy roster would be incredible.

That said, having only 1 injury that appears to be day-to-day at this point is pretty awesome as well. I haven't looked around the league at all the playoff teams, but of the few that I follow, not many can claim to be as healthy as we are.

When I saw the way Klein was holding the stick in the first skate he had a week ago i kinda felt that he wouldn't be ready, but you never know. He may be able to get into the next practice.

I think you have to be slightly concerned if he comes back later in the series when the games mean even more. In a perfect world he would have gotten a reg season game under his belt first to knock off the rust but now we may be talking about a game 2 or 3 return.

I have trust in Hunwick

Absolutely. Look at the Penguins as a perfect example. Gotta keep things in perspective.

If he didn't have a timetable than they shouldn't have given us one.

Feelin' good on a Wednesday

This is the kind of thing people say making the team and media have no correct answer.

Had the NYR said "There is no timetable for Hank to return" folks around here (probably myself included lol) would be jumping off buildings. Injuries & healing duration are different for everyone. Relax. He'll be back before this series is over in all likelihood. He won't be rushed, just like Hank wasn't.

Wait and see how it goes with the Montreal Penguins before we rush Klein back into the game . If we are ahead in the series I see no reason to rush him...the D will see a lot of abuse next round....better to have him at 110% then at 85 in round 1 . I think we can win with Hunwick in round 1 .

Thanks again AO for shooting the puck purposely at him.

And i'll say it again, how often do you see a player hit another player up high with the puck on a dump in....1 out of 1,000 times? He knew was he was doing, he was being a baby cause they were about to lose the game. I hope we play them in the second round and Klein puts AO through the glass on the first shift.

Not necessarily saying Klein should be rushed, but there's difference between winning in and winning in 7. Win in 7 and you have a week of additional brutal wear and tear as the other team tries to physically destroy you in games 6 and 7. Win in 4 and you have a week to relax your mind and heal your body. Plus, no chance of injury in the nonexistent 3 games. A 4/5 game victory is like not being in the playoffs because you can let all your bruises heal.

You seriously think Ovechkin shot it at Klein on purpose? With a teammate screening him? Sorry, but that's ridiculous

Okay, ill ask again. How often does a player get hit up high with a dump in from the behind the red line? The is a world class player, he dumps the puck in 30x a game without it hitting someone up high.
