If a player doesn’t want to waive his NTC to go to a team for family reasons, then good for them.

I actually agree with that. However, the very public way that this has all played out since last night Krug is now in a position to be public enemy #1 in St. Louis at the start of the season if he is still signed here. I am talking Eric Brewer level heat. Not his fault but it just is what it is, I actually feel quite bad for him. That is why I hoping it is Boston somehow, so he doesn't have to start over completely.

If an awful player doesn't want to waive to come to my team, then I fully support him...cause of family and stuff :sarcasm:

Just ribbing you a bit.

But in terms of family, if he kids are young, its not a big deal. If they aren't in school, he isn't not moving because of family. His oldest is like 4. It has nothing to do with family. That is a convenient excuse.

Yeah because all the support network needed to raise three young kids under 4 can be completely interchangeable no matter where you live...right.

I mean he shouldn't really need an excuse anyway to use what he negotiated for

In all fairness when you're making the money he's making... support network isn't difficult to acquire. He's wealthy enough to have a maid, nanny, and pay for errands to be done.

When you are a millionaire and have no extended family in your current location, then yes, it is pretty damn interchangeable.

Then why are people giving one? The excuse is for PR.

My hope is since the Blues negotiated for the right to move him, we take advantage of that. Let him see how good of a support structure he can find for his kids while riding the bus in the minor leagues and living in Springfield for the next 4 years.

+1.

An NTC is an option for a player to have some say in where they go. Which is fine. It’s not a clause that’s iron clad to prevent you from being moved entirely. If you are approached to be traded by a team, you’re gone. It’s just a matter of where - and at that point, why would you want to stay?

You can force the team to strong arm you, or work with them to pick a better destination for you. If you are trying to reverse strong arm by indicating you won’t waive it period, then they can certainly retaliate in a worse way.

Employers almost always win.

Springfield is literally like an hr and a half away from St. Louis. I drove almost an hr for my commute. I'll think he will be fine if thats the case.

I think there is some truth to this. At that point your now playing for a team you know tried to trade you away. That has to be difficult. I don't envy the situation, for all parties involved it has to be uncomfortable but that is just a reality of this business.

I knew these would be the replies. In reality, it's really not that simple. Doesn't matter anyways as Blues look to be forcing him into a trade anyways.

I mean it's part of the business and it's not like the guys in the room want him gone. Just have to try and ignore media and fans. The day today isn't going to change.

Different Springfield. Our AHL team is Springfield, Mass. Which is 2 hours from Boston so maybe he likes it. I don't care if he does or not. I care that I don't have to watch him play. He is terrible.

Hearing Krug, 25 OA and 2024 2nd

Hayes(50% retained), Laughton, Sanheim

’Philly flips Krug to Boston

Hearing from who exactly. Also that is nearly 13 cap going to St. Louis and only 6.5 going out. Way too much money to Blues.

That's the sad part for players when they're part of a possible trade and they invoke their NTC. Fans may hold it against him if the trade doesn't end up going thru.

only problem is that is Way too much money going into the Blues salary cap so this is not possible.
