Going off the assumption that Minny can't resign Fiala (which I've read is a real possibility), what would you guys want? While being an RFA helps his value, the fact that they can't afford him and "need" to move him hurts it.

Untouchables: Nico, Jack and Luke Hughes, Bratt, Mercer, Bratt, Holtz, Sharangovich, Siegenthaler, Bahl*(?)

*Our management and coaching staff seem to like him a lot.

Our 2023 pick is completely on the table (maybe top 5 protected?)

You get hung up on with that untouchable list

The cost would be large, salary cap crunch or not . A number of those players would absolutely need to be available to put forth a competitive offer . I expect them to move Dumba instead regardless.

Man I do like a Siegenthaler a lot, but come on, Fiala is worth a lot more. Same goes for other guys on your list. NJ would absolutely give up Sharangovich for a guy like Fiala.

Not a lot to work with under that No Touch list. I assume the 2022 1st is off the table as well since even the 2023 1st is likely top-5 protected.

I'm not feeling all that sanguine about the potential returns for Fiala, but anything New Jersey puts together with the leftovers would likely be outbid.

I absolutely think NJD could use more production. They're currently 19th in the league in scoring. But I think the right move would be finding regular starting goalie, assuming Blackwood isn't the guy.

OP’s untouchable list is ridiculous when asking for a player of Fiala’s caliber. Also the Devils haven’t had nearly enough success to worry about losing some of those depth players. If you aren’t offering up Mercer plus picks, it better be a bunch of futures

I agree the untouchable list is longer than it needs to be but the Devils lack of success to due to their age. Bratt, Mercer, and Holtz should be a pretty good set of top 6 wingers in the future.

They could potentially use one more but they have a top 5-6 pick this year and a bunch of young guys who could fill the role (Sharangovich, Zetterlund, Foote, etc.). Personally I think they should use the pick on another winger and trade for goaltending and rhd help because they take longer to develop.

The Devils have weaknesses at goalie and rhd, not wing and center. This is not a deal the Devils needs to or should be making. Any available assets they have should be going to fix their actual issues.

Fiala is a great player and you’ll probably get a good haul for him, I just don’t think it’ll be from the Devils. I hope not at least.

2022 1st if Logan Cooley is there. Literally the only piece I would want that isn't listed as untouchable.

I'm not sure how you are expecting people to respond to that untouchable list, but there's almost nothing desirable left after that.

Pass. Imo the Devils should only be trading assets for goaltending or RHD.

Trading Mercer or Holtz for another wing makes zero sense. Devils have a good group of young forwards and might add another one this draft.

If you want to talk Zacha, Smith, 2023 1st then I think a deal
Can be made. If that’s not enough I lose no sleep.
What would you give for Dumba or Addison?
