What can I say? I'm seeing a lot of 0's beside his name lately. Yeah he got an assist last night, but Holy God. He's a really bad player supporting a contract that doesn't jive with his production. Lately he's been the guy missing his coverage, taking dumb penalties, and doing things like chasing after his stick outside blue line on a penalty kill.

Do you think Dubas will finally move him at the TDL to balance out the salary cap?

I'm nervous about the playoffs, but I'm more nervous if Kerfoot remains on the team in a significant roll. He just doesn't have the discipline to help TOR win a playoff series or go beyond.

Kerfoot and Holl will never be traded.

Although he's probably our 83rd "own rental" thingy.

I will never understand why we aquired jarnkrok who is basically kerfoot with more goals and cheaper

Yet still kept kerfoot

We needed a depth improvement and no so much the cap space. Kerfoot also can play center, and does when injuries come up, and penalty kills. This said, I’m still interested in moving him now, if we are upgrading.

I can understand why we got Jarnkrok. What I don't understand is why Dubas gave a player like that (who is 31 now) a 4 year M-NTC contract. I also don't understand why Kerfoot is still here.

Small, soft, and has zero offensive skills anymore. This dude is not made for the playoffs. Do you think he's the type of player ready to go to war in the playoffs against Tampa/Boston?

But the leafs love his "Intangibles".

If Kerfoot was in Boston or Tampa, he would've been traded a long time ago

That's one thing with Dubas he holds on to players too long

The timing obviously doesn't work out too well for the player (pending UFA status). That said, it's becoming apparent that last season was an outlier of sorts. Kerfoot was arguably better offensively with Colorado while improving his game defensively during his time with the Leafs.

This is very likely, and it would have been a result of a 2nd or 3rd round pick forcing their way into the lineup and making Kerfoot expendable. Leafs prospects just haven't forced their hand/been given the opportunity.

Leafs lineup is pretty set regardless of production, that's one of the reasons that the players get complacent.

Jarnkrok is fine he seems like he's a perfect fit to replace kerfoot at a lower cost. However that gets thrown out the window when you keep kerfoot

It's similar to the Tyson Barrie fiasco when we didn't have a role for him

Kerfoot, Holl, Engvall, have to go! Enough. I can't believe Timmins doesn't play.

What are you talking about? I get that Kerfoot isn’t worth 3.5 mil most nights in the role he’s playing, and given that, most of us seem to agree he’s prime candidate for cap going out at the deadline, but let’s not go re-writing history to fit a narrative. Kerfoot has more often than not been among our better playoff performers during his Leaf tenure.

I also do not think soft should be conflated with not physical. They are not the same thing. Kerfoot is the latter.

I’m not really a Kerfoot fan, his lack of finish frustrates me like everyone else, and I think he makes too much vs the role we use him in, but the takes on him are absurd

Kerfoot is trash and had little to no effect in the playoffs last year.

And yes he's soft. Not only is he too small to throw hits, he get moved off the puck too easily and gets hammered on the boards in the forecheck.

He sure was 2 years ago, Willy and Kerfoot were as good as any Leaf.

Kerfoot isn't soft, he goes to the tough areas and tries to grind it out. But he's small and more of what we already have. It also doesn't help that he has some awful turnovers and penalties

We already saw that manifest when he costed us in game 6 against Tampa last year
