Arpon Basu asked his philosophy on drafting and if he thinks the composition of his team influences the drafting.

Kent replied saying unless they believe both players are pretty equal, they draft the best player available. Wonder if that calms down the crowd of "we won't draft a small player"?

Pretty cool that Arpon did his homework and used his one question to ask something that has been asked every single draft for years and that we already knew the answer to. 1000 word the Athletic article incoming. Wonder if he gets chat GPT to write them at this point.

Also, it's an outstanding year for goalies. Very deep, with good quality. I hope we take 2 goalies this year. 2nd or 3rd round and then 4th or 5th round.

Hughes will never show his cards to the media, but I agree if Will Smith is available at #5 he is a Hab which I would be thrilled with.

Benson may be the dark horse as well at #5; I just don't see them drafting the Russian for a number of reasons including the fact that they don't have control over his development which is a big emphasis under new management.

Michkov has a boatload of talent, nobody denies that, but their are red flags both about his game, the geopolitical issue and his contract.

I think he'll slide to Philly or maybe even Washington.

I'm curious why journalists always ask if there are external influences that would affect Michkov to be drafted and instead not asking what he thinks about the hockey side of the player? To me that would say a lot more on if they like him or not.

Kent said that it's important to not put that much emphasis on whoever is currently in the SC finals when it comes to building your team.

One really small insight he revealed (which he talked about before) is competitiveness. Who are the most competitive players in the draft? lol

Leonard, Benson, Moore are high level compete players, as are the top 3 in Bedard, Carlsson & Fantilli.

They're aren't actually too many players this year where I said, "I hate his compete" he's DND. Musty walks a fine line on that one.

He was ask about PLD and said that he can't talk about PLD since he's playing for an other team and said right after that he can't talk about Carter Hart either but no one ask him about him
