You would think there is something up..............why bother if there is nothing to announce.......this is not the Bergevin Montreal Canadiens.....

Literally every GM addresses the media day one or day two of free agency, even if they don't do much. Its not a Bergevin thing, its a 'being a professional sports organization' thing.

I would safely say Canadiens end up bottom 4
And If things go wrong like injuries under performing - Gallagher being s hit again with some others - probably bottom 2
I don't think Arizona will be quite as bad as some think

Montreal
Renaud: What happened?

Kent: Well, Renaud, what happened was a certain reporter made something up and then everyone jumped on it.

Chantal: Renaud, we will need you to leave your press pass before you leave today. We'll give it back to you after we feel you've earned it back.

We are probably done with the FA signings. Good.

Did we even get started?

We are probably done with the FA signings. Good.

Not probably, we were never going after UFA's. The "Habs will be big spenders this summer" report a few months ago always was BS.

Hughes was likely working one 1 of 3 things or all 3..

1) Petry trade
2) Possible trade with Hoffman, Drouin, Byron, Dadonov, Armia (we need cap room)
3) Dubois trade

OK, I figured it out...

Hughes canceled yesterdays meeting cause he had to get the same injection shot at Price for his knee. Apparently it helps grow hair too! No joke, it really does

Yeah, it’s the obligatory post-UFA press conference.

He was prolly driving down to his cottage last night.

I agree with this a lot.

At this point, Montreal is the weakest team in the East, and outside of Arizona and Chicago, I can't see anyone finishing lower in the standings than us (unless Cole becomes a 50g guy and Price returns to full immaculate health lol) ... it's a shame we won the lottery this year (lightning can strike twice!) because we have a real shot at a top 3 pick next year - I think we will end up with Fantilli ... or Dvorsky (we will be the Slovakian team at this rate)

Fantilli would be one sweet consolation prize. I'd happily settle for Michkov too.

It's disrespectful to paying fans that the Habs didn't even try to look like they made the team better. They added Dadanov and Slafkovsky but the defence is not NHL-worthy -- who replaces Romanov??

Even crap teams sign players every summer to tighten their bottom6 or bottom-pair. This inaction is unfortunate. I understand the cap is problematic but I'm just viewing it with a step away from the nitty gritty details: they made zero effort to improve the NHL roster. That's strange to me. This is as much of a Full Rebuild as I've ever seen.

Hughes probably did not like any of the trades he received for petry. This press conference is probably to let us know this. If we can find a way to motivate him and up his value then we can trade him at the deadline.
