How on earth does scoring by defenseman not create value? Not sure if you're aware but you don't win the game with a goal total of 0 ever. If I'm wrong please cite a game.

Did I say first round pick? I said positive value. (1st round to 7th round pick, prospect, etc)

Teams struggled with the flat cap because they continually make bone headed roster decisions.

We got a 7th for Gus, and he has a higher pp/60 than Ghost the past few years.

Not all first round picks, and not all first rounds, are equal. Far from it. This past first round was shallow and difficult to evaluate because of the Covid impact on junior seasons. If ever there were a year where a 13th or 14th pick didn't carry its typical value, it was this year. I have no problem passing up a prospect the caliber of Isak Rosen to trade for a 20 minute RH defenseman who would play for the Flyers immediately.

If you understand the concept of a cap world and the cost control of first rounders or other draft picks you would never ever say something like this.

Similar intensity. Watching him purposefully avoid a hit and lose a puck he should've been first on, 20 seconds earlier, really adds to the flavor of that goal. Being "sawft" gets woefully overused, but *wildly gesticulates*.

I said Yandle is better and more productive than Ghost. You quoted me and bolded that and said maybe if it was 2017. You didnt just bold the better part, but also more productive.

I provided their numbers since 2018 which show how much more productive Yandle has been from 2018 - 2021 and proved you wrong. End of story.

They probably just want someone who can be a weapon on the PP and doesn't cost too much. He also adds experience which never hurts.

Nobody should expect him to be an all situation, minute eating defenseman. He'll be a more experienced, much cheaper Ghost.

Yandle is an offensive defenseman, like Ghost. Sucks defensively, like Ghost. But is actually better at offense & costs $900k instead of $4.25M. That says nothing of the locker room presence, where Yandle is almost universally loved.

Yeah, it’s negligible. I’m pretty sure more people would take Yandle over Ghost, or at least it would be around 50/50, & one makes $900k & the other $4.25M.

They are both 3rd pairing/PP specialists. I said this long before the offseason during a Ghost conversation. Yandle is what Ghost could have been had he stayed healthy and continued to get 50 plus points a year which he hasn't done in years. The real kicker is this, Ghost makes 4.5 million, Yandle 900K. Some people simply cannot help themselves.

Yandle has outproduced Ghost by a wide margin for a few years now. He is quite simply a better version of Ghost at a fraction of the cost even if Ghost is better defensively which is extremely debatable. Neither one ha has a role in this league because they are defensive stalwarts. Ignoring the fact that Yandle is significantly more productive and ignoring the difference in aav from 4.5 million to 900K is laughable.

There is no ''narrative'' here, just facts that prove me right and prove you wrong. You can ignore them, try to spin them, and move the goal post all you want but it doesn't change the reality of the situation that Yandle is significantly more productive at a fraction of the cost.

Doesn't really matter who's the better player because Ghost is not five times better than Yandle and that's the difference in cap hit. And that's the reason why Yandle at 900k on the Flyers makes sense and Ghost at 4.5m doesn't.
If Ghost was still on the Flyers, he'd be the most overpaid bottom pair defenseman in the league.

That PP sequence by him was mindblowingly bad. Soft, slow, and cost us a goal. I have no respect for players that selfishly avoid physical contact.
But overall he hasn't looked that bad on the PP since Yeo took over. He has more PP points than anyone on the team since then.
