In a simulation
18 of his 27 points last year came on one of the nhl most lethal pp on one the nhl best teams. Of his 24 assists 16 were secondary. Ghost had 20 points, 9 being on the pp. And had 6 more goals than yandle. Not to mention yandle even strength analytics are God awful while ghost are all positive. Stop this narrative. It's flat out wrong.
Last three seasons

Yandle
134 points
78 on the PP
900K

Ghost
69 points
28 on the PP
4.5 million

There is no ''narrative'' here, just facts that prove me right and prove you wrong. You can ignore them, try to spin them, and move the goal post all you want but it doesn't change the reality of the situation that Yandle is significantly more productive at a fraction of the cost.

He was signed to that contract by another team. We acquired it, willfully.

He left here, then went on to sign a deal worth only 60% of that deal the next year. The fall off was real, and everyone knows it. Except AV, who is making him his Tanner Glass.

I got a great bottle of bourbon that says he dresses more than 50 games this year. You in?

Sure. Except I'm broke, so you'll have to weigh the wager by our relative incomes (relative risk).

Salary cap gestion and production per player
And keeping flexibility.

There ya go. Thanks you.

A lot of people are in for a shock when they see Yandle and Risto play, especially if they were under the impression that Ghost represented bad defense.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, especially regarding Risto. This is the same crew who watched Robert Hagg play and thought he was a serviceable NHLer.

Yandle? Yeah, they're going to hate Yandle.

Unfathomable that anyone could defend this management group. The Flyers have had Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier for 10 years and have been past the first round once. Their GM has been in the league since 2009 and he's been past the first round twice. Their coach has been in decline since 2014.

This is an organization that stands for perpetual mediocrity. It insists on icing useless players year after year. VdV, MacDonald, Hagg, Thompson, Stewart, Risto. It's a team that constantly has made good picks and had highly rated prospects who show great promise at age 19-21 and then stagnate. There are too many to even name.

I forgot that points are the only thing that goes into a hockey game. 3 years ago is completely irrelevant information for a guy yandle age. Using last year as the closest indicator even the points aren't pretty. And I'd you want to look at the analytics for even your beloved 3 years Yandle is a black hole and Ghost is a positive player. It's honestly not even close Ghost is the better player today by a country mile. Prime for prime maybe not. But yandle is 5 years past his prime.

Doesn't really matter who's the better player because Ghost is not five times better than Yandle and that's the difference in cap hit. And that's the reason why Yandle at 900k on the Flyers makes sense and Ghost at 4.5m doesn't.
If Ghost was still on the Flyers, he'd be the most overpaid bottom pair defenseman in the league.

A lot of people are in for a shock when they see Yandle and Risto play

I saw most of Dykhuis’ minutes. Ready for anything. Yandle was awesome in NHL 2004, always wanted that guy. I want my team to have fun. It’s only game. Risto looks like a total goofball. They will tease the hell out of him and it will help chemistry.

Yandle on Sportsnet talking about how Laughton tried to prank him yesterday and how he's working on a prank war with him now.

Seems like a good guy. Hopefully he brings something positive on the ice.

That's the theme of the offseason. Out with the whiners, in with character guys.

If it works out, genius.

If it doesn't, kumbaya was not the answer.

They are both offensive defenseman who earns their paychecks by producing points and mainly on the PP. The fact that Yandle has been so much more productive than Ghost in recent years is absolutely significant. Nevermind the fact that Ghost is making 4.5 million and Yandle is barely over the league minimum at 900K.

Fine, we can look at the last two years.

Yandle
72 points
39 PP points
0.576 ppg
47 points per 82 gms

Ghost
32 points
13 PP points
0.385 ppg
32 points per 82 games

Yandle was also more productive than Ghost last year.

So if Yandle's points weren't pretty last year what does that say for Ghost considering Yandle out produced him 27 to 20 and 18 to 9 on the PP.

Analytics are for nerds who would rather look at charts and abstract drawings than actually watch a few games outside of their own market and judge players by what actually happens on the ice.

Yandle had two of the most productive years of his career in 17-18 and 18-19 with 56 and 62 points. Again, he is an offensive defenseman / PP specialist who earns his pay check based on point production.

You got anything else I can pick apart.

Keith Yandle averaged 4 minutes 25 of powerplay time per game.

Ghost averaged 2 minutes 40.

Keith Yandle has played collectively 500 more minutes than Ghost.

Maths is hard......

I'm surprised there isn't a German compound word summarizing the spirit of that quote.

Manntrachtungottlachtenschnitzen

Wenn man den Wolf nennt, so kommt er gerennt ( I think that's right from German tutors 4 years ago) @Ironmanrulez -- correct me if I'm wrong)

First i was a bit overwhelmed. Cause i havent any idea about what you guys are talking about, never heard about that german sentence! I needed to do a research with google :D.

This german sentence Mann tracht un gott lachten schnitzen was founded by germans settlers who lived in israel in the 1930s.... Iam nearly 40 years and never heard about this before in Germany. But iam not religious at all, so maybe i would´ve heard it otherwise!

"Wenn man den Wolf nennt, so kommt er gerennt" was another adage ive never heard before. Lupus in fabula, or Lupum in sermone was used by the roman people back in the days. They feared the wolf would come if you speak about him.

In Germany we have another adage which is closed to the adage you used: „Mal den Teufel nicht an die Wand.“ - "Don't paint the devil on the wall". I think that is what you are searching for. If you dont want bad things to happen, stop talking about them.

another adage: "Wer Wind sät, wird Sturm ernten".

"Who sows the wind will reap storm"

would be another term you can use ;D

Its very interesting you guys are knowing old German fables and adage more than myself ;D

Because THIS is the action I’m interested in for this season. Old Forester 1897 BIB.
