Look at their drafting when Drury was AGM and then promoted, their drafts and player development has been awful.

2017: Lias Andersson, Filip Chytil
2018: Vitaly Kravtsov, K'Andre Miller, Nils Lundqvist, Olaf Lindbom
2019: Kappo Kakko, Matthew Robertson, Karl Henriksson
2020: Alexei Lafreniere, Braden Schneider, Will Cuylle

DRURY TIME
2021: Brennen Othmann
2022: Adam Sykora
2023: Gabe Perrault
2024: EJ Emery.... who by the way we took over Cole Hutson...

Combine this with the constant assets being moved to fill the hole on the top line with the asinine Buchnevich trade they effectively closed their window after what, 3 years? Look at all these wingers Drury acquired to try to get a wing next to Kreider and Zibanejad:

Tarasenko - 1st Rounder
Kane - 2nd Rounder / 4th Rounder
Vatrano - 4th Rounder
Reilly Smith - 2nd Rounder
Roslovic - 3rd Rounder

So in the macro, Drury sucks. In the micro, Drury sucks. However you want to slice it...DRURY f***ING SUCKS.
This is a very insightful POV. I would add that a couple of deals he's turned out ok on, but theres also a couple of terrible signings(nemeth) that offset it. On top of that he's a reported asshole who treats everyone in the org terribly. That's showing on the ice too. It's a holistic failure top to bottom.

Drury really has made a mess of this team in the last year or so
Huge contract with full nm in net
Mika full no move
Reworked D that's resigned or have time left that's worse than the d they replaced.
No top centers in the system
Best player heading into his last year
Kids haven't developed
Traded Kakko for a 6th dman.

He shouldn't get any more chances

The draft started 50 years ago and we've never done it.

I don't need to tell you how those percentages work.
The Rangers have never drafted a forward who ended up in the Hall of Fame.

You could make an argument for Rick Middleton, but he's had some off-ice demerits.

I voted keep both. But hear me out.

Fire Housley. Whatever it is, it didn't work. Muse and Peca are fine.

Lavi has made questionable roster decisions throughout his tenure, even during a great season and very good playoffs. I give him a lot of credit for last season, though.

When things go wrong, he just can't adjust. Things went bad, and he is culpable for making it worse. There are a handful of coaches I absolutely do not want, so just show me an option I like and I'll turn on him like gas station sushi.

Same with Drury. Some good, some bad, some making the most out of a bad situation, and some making a bad situation (sometimes one he created) worse. Show me a better option and I'm listening.

I'm also listening if the players want a full mutiny. There is way too much talent for this result.

There's nagging injuries everywhere this season, but there's also a simmering animosity. If it's against the organization as a whole, then those specific players need to go. If it's against a specific staffer, then that hypothetical GM and/or coach should be gone.

I could flip over to "fire both" fairly easily. But then that feeds into the "inmates running the country club" narrative, right? It's tough.

There's an argument for blowing everything up, but it has to be a good one.

No idea why Schneider isn’t talked about being the trade chip to get a forward

Fox and Borgen are signed long term, are they keeping Schneider around to play 3rd pairing minutes? With their best defensive prospect being a RD?

Seems silly to not move Schneider
Problem with this is Borgen sucks and should not be playing above the 3rd pairing. The issue is the roster construction is so poor and so many players are being asked to play in roles they aren’t equipped for while also being overpaid that yeah you probably should trade Schneider but then who is filling his spot? I guess if the FO was going to take a long term approach it wouldn’t matter but I doubt they will.

Borgen is a mid 3rd pair guy and Schneider has shown some offensive upside. With a real coaching staff I think he could take the next step. So can Miller tbh

Why not? At least he’s not camera shy like Little
league boy
Because we keep bitching (rightly) that this team always brings in 'old boys' rather than people who have developed into a role, but then every time we talk change it's always alumni guys like Messier, Hank, ex-Ranger whoever that are brought up rather than people who have 'earned' it.

Rather hire a team legend than a f***ing terrible ass player like Drury who was a black stain on the franchise. Might as well make Holik the President of Hockey Ops

or we could stop doing that...
Hank has spent more timer shilling for a sportsbook than doing any meaningful hockey management role since retirement, why would he be a good hire?

this is not an endorsement of Drury over Hank, just a desire for us to stop doing the same stupid shit over and over

I feel we need to hire an experienced defensive coach. We need to be good enough at offense and great on defense which will highlight our strong goal tending. Tired of run and gun and man to man.

In all seriousness what are the odds Drury gets canned - I’d say ten percent
He deserves to go but I’d put the chances at probably 10-15% max

Although Gorton and Montreal slamming the playoff door in Drury’s face might piss Dolan off to where he makes a move, who knows

This is the worst season in the 28 years I've watched this team. They both have to go but I don't see Drury going as he was allowed to make moves this season that have shaped the next few seasons

Dolan loves Torts. I could see him canning Drury and hiring Torts as GM. Hopefully that coach to GM transition would work better for NYR/Torts than it did for Preds/Trotz

For the people crying about media availability, this is how it has been with every GM this team has had forever.

I don't know why the org doesn't want to them to more appearances, but this isn't exclusive to Drury. We barely heard from JG or Sather when they were in charge either.

You get one spot at the beginning of the season, one at the deadline, one at the end of the season, maybe one at the draft and then one after free agency unless theres something major that happens along the way.

1%.

Even Lavi i'd put at 50/50 even though it should be 6900000%

I really think they're going to replace Housley and keep Lavi on a short leash next year that he'll run out of <10 games in.

i feel like we saw Grotons and JD way more

We didn't.

It was the same deal - camp, deadline, end of season, draft, development camp after the draft sometimes, free agency and random appearance if something big happened (the letter/winning the draft lottery/new HC hire.)

It's been this way forever and fans have complained about it for just as long. I think putting the clamps on the GM is dumb and it'd be nice to hear from them a bit more throughout the season but the reality is they aren't really going to give us any more info than we're getting from other people.

The org in general has always been way more inaccessible than others. it's a valid complaint but it's not any worse than its ever been.
