One way to be able to afford these guys is to let all of Stralman/Girardi/Coburn walk next offseason, that's 11.2M off the books.
Then buy out 1 year of Callahan or do whatever it takes to get rid of him.

Then if it's not enough trade Miller, that's another 5.25m off the books.

As a habs fan if the incentive isnt terrible I'd take Ryan. Maybe not on the lack of centre habs, but Ryan is usually good for 40-50 points while not playing a full season. Throw in his contract slightly retained, or getting picks and/or prospects to take it and it looks good for them..

In my opinion of course.

Couldn't care less about the fact that it helps Tampa and/or Ottawa..

Maybe Yzerman is getting Ryan off their books too? Granted that he trades him elsewhere in the process.

Any deal with Tampa is going to be super complicated. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they wanted Karlsson the most out of all suitors, but it won’t be easy.

1. They have to include Sergachev. It’s a no-go any other way. Dorion has, apparently, already turned down a deal including Theodore. He’s not accepting a deal without Sergachev. Tampa wasn’t willing to do it at the deadline, but things have changed. They didn’t make the finals. Toronto signed Tavares. Yzerman might be reconsidering.

2. They don’t have a 2019 1st. Dorion has been adamant about needing a 1st next year back in any trade, because he gave away his own. A 2020 1st won’t fly, IMO. Tampa needs to go out and get a pick they can flip back to Ottawa.

3. Tampa needs to send back salary, and all of their potential dumps (Coburn, Girardi, Callahan) have NTC and won’t waive for Ottawa, nor would the useful players that they might be willing to move (Johnson, Stralman). They could always trade Miller, but that doesn’t seem like a Yzerman type of move after he just signed him.

So…

Can Tampa flip Johnson somewhere for a 1st and then put together an offer of Sergachev + prospect (Raddysh, Cirelli, Katchouk, Foote) + 1st? We’ll see.

lol if this happens the bottom of the Atlantic needs to go even deeper into tank mode. The top is going to be brutal.

Also if this is the plan I continue to be perplexed why Ottawa kept their pick. The only thing you could have sold this year was the hope of getting Jack Hughes. That dream keeps fans alive during the struggles.

Yeah, the only way it would work is if the condition was that the Senators get the 1st if they DON'T win the Cup.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to do that though. Have two different conditions on a pick in two different trades.
Of course you can. It becomes a 2020 1st if the Bolts win the Cup and the rights to the pick belong to the Rangers.

Kucherov/Stamkos/Point/Miller/Palat
Marner/Tavares/Matthews/Kadri/Nylander

Give me TOR's group 10/10

Yeah, but it's really close.

Now compare Toronto vs. Tampa defense w/ Karlsson. Make sure to leave some time for a few extra deep breaths between all that laughing you will be doing.

For what it's worth:

Tavares to Toronto - that's scary. Matthews/Tavares 1-2 punch at center, along with all the young talent they have, they can be a legitimate contender for many years. Possibly win a few cups, if things go their way.

Karlsson to Tampa? ****, we might see the start of a dynasty. That's just scary.

It's crazy how much talent Tampa has.

If Tampa wants Karlsson long term they'd have a hell of a maze to walk. Only ~$13M to sign 6 players, include Point and Kucherov. Granted these players could be moved; they're not dumps in any sense.

Yzerman should call the Islanders. a 1 year deal for Colburn might would out perfectly as a stopgap if he is real cheap(ie 7th round pick).

no way in hell they trade Point, he is their future and they traded Drouin because Point was there to take his place. There is no one else to take Point's place

Yeah well we're talking about getting a prime age, top 2 D-man in league, future hall of famer locked in for next 8 years. You gotta give to get.

Also they still have Tyler Johnson at #2 even if Point is gone.

Then it's Sergachev or bust. You don't get players like Karlsson for scraps.

Dont tell that to Dallas or Tampa fans. They are getting Karlsson for scraps and the sens are gonna like it! Just go read the all encompassing Karlsson thread its all there. They have me convinced as a sens fan that Karlsson has no value even with an extension in place. I have been told im stupid for thinking otherwise.

Yep which is why,I think TB has to look at taking another way ,other than trying to better that forward group...A stacked blueline with EK could be a counter, along with a lessened but yet still potent top 9 could work

Dorion wouldn't trade Hoffman to FLA directly, but is considering EK65(+ extension) to TBL?

Tampa doesn't have a 1st next year, correct? (Which Ottawa really needs)

The pick from our trade is a 2nd with a condition that it becomes a 1st if TB wins the Cup.

So there would have to be a condition on Tampa not winning the Cup.
