They’re not getting Sergachev from the Bolts, but they can get Foote.

They’re not getting Heiskanen from the Stars, but they can get Honka.

They’re not getting Makar from the Avs, but they can get Timmins.

They’re not getting Glass from Vegas, but they can get Suzuki.

Teams aren’t trading Dorion their top prospects.

Tampa can’t even trade their 1st since it’s conditioned to the Rangers if the Bolts win the Cup. They already don’t have their 2nd. I doubt any of Tampa’s players will waive their NTC to go to the circus in Ottawa. Johnson, Palat, Killorn, etc.

If he goes to the Lightning, Dorion is getting fleeced for some combination of Foote, Raddysh, and whatever else.
Sens' fans: we'll just wait for the offers to get better!!! (which they won't)

If I were these other GMs, I'd offer our next years first round pick and that's it. Don't like it, we'll all bid on him next year in UFA.

If TB trades their 1st along with other players for Karlsson and they win the cup that 1st will belong to the NYR because of the MacDonaugh trade , anyone have any clarification on this ?

The 2019 pick is a 2nd, becomes a 1st if the Lightning win the Cup.

The 2019 TB 1st is off the table in this trade

This is my hope. I don't want Karlsson in our division. Both for my own enjoyment of his career, it'll be much more fun following him if he's on a Western team that I have no reason to cheer against, and because it'll create a super team in our division.

Given that Dorion apparently only has three options for an extended Karlsson, TBL, DAL, and VGK; My hope is that Dorion knows he can't waste leverage, does not intend to trade Karlsson to TBL unless he absolutely has to, and is using them to get DAL or VGK to step up.

Dorion needs to play ball with Karlsson. If Karlsson is going to extend longterm in Tampa, or sign with them next summer, no other team is going to give up a ton for a player who has their heart set on playing elsewhere in a year.

If you're Dallas, do you really want to give up a premium package, introduce Karlsson into your room and to the fans, only to have him leave this time next year for nothing?

If Karlsson has his heart set on Tampa, the best play for Ottawa is to work with that and use Karlsson and the Tampa players to put pressure on Yzerman to make a decent deal.

Watch Yzerman get him without giving up Sergachev or Point because.... Yzerman.
Hedman, Karlsson, McDonagh and Stralman as a top 4 is just ridiculous. Good for this Oilers fan if it happens, keep him out east.

to be fair Don Brennan and Travis Yost are horrible reporters

I would wonder if the Senators are still against trading within the division if that’s the case it may raise the price on Karlsson if you’re Tampa

Either this was never the case, or if it was the Senators have moved off of it.

I'm not saying they weren't shopping Karl+Ryan as a package, only that it may not have been a prerequisite. Or if it was, the Senators have realized they can't make it work and need to be more flexible.

If Ryan is off the table, and an EK trade can be done without him, then I would expect every other team linked to EK would have better offers than what TB could provide, and this trade would be done already.

Gotta believe Ryan's contract is the hold up here. If he doesn't end up in TB with EK, the other teams will likely be royally pissed.

For what it's worth:

Tavares to Toronto - that's scary. Matthews/Tavares 1-2 punch at center, along with all the young talent they have, they can be a legitimate contender for many years. Possibly win a few cups, if things go their way.

Karlsson to Tampa? ****, we might see the start of a dynasty. That's just scary.

It's crazy how much talent Tampa has.

Yeah, Torontos D-group wouldn't be even close to Tampas, Tampa would have 2 top3 D-men in the game in their prime+ McDonagh, then could have Serg/Stralman as well.

The worst thing is their F group could match up against Toronton even with that defense.

That would be their 2020 and 2021 firsts. The 2019 first is still tied in with the Rangers if they win the cup this season.

I don't see Tampa trading their first round pick 4 years in a row. Who does Yzerman think he is, Glen Sather?

Fair point. Didn't realize it was tied into this year, but at this rate they're gonna win like 4 consecutive cups with Karlsson anyway, so it won't matter much

Gee really? This falls under the "no shit Sherlock" category.

They can make it conditional, depending on the NYR’s rights to it.

Yeah, the only way it would work is if the condition was that the Senators get the 1st if they DON'T win the Cup.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to do that though. Have two different conditions on a pick in two different trades.

Have there been reports that Karl will only sign in Tampa?

The most recent reports I've seen (if accurate) claim there are three destinations, DAL, VGK, or TBL. Dallas isn't pulling the trigger on a trade without an extension, nor is VGK.

Any player with any sort of NTC isn't going to Ottawa right now. That said, geez this is going to be a hard one to pull off, given the extensions TB has in the pipeline next year.

The full deal will probably include Foote, Johnson, Keokkeok and Cirelli.

All 4, definitely 3, will step into the Ottawa lineup immediately.

Ottawa gets

Foote, cirelli, and a 1st

They get a future replacement on defence who can play as early as this season. Cirelli steps right in at center. They also get to hop back into the first round.

I also this someone would have to waive their no move for this to go through. Some way or another their has been be cap coming back whether is Killorn, Johnson, or Callahan.
