Ottawa isnt going to get anywhere near what they should for him because of Karlsson and his leverage right now

Foote, Raddysh, 2 1sts and Callahan. Unless Johnson is in and agrees to waive if he knows hes getting flipped to a preferred team, then Raddysh comes out

If TB trades their 1st along with other players for Karlsson and they win the cup that 1st will belong to the NYR because of the MacDonaugh trade , anyone have any clarification on this ?

The holdup was probably getting Johnson to waive. Cal Foote will be the main, young D piece going back to Ottawa, not Sergachev. Foote is a beast and loaded with character, just like Tkachuk and White... which is exactly what Ottawa is looking to build with.

They’re not getting Sergachev from the Bolts, but they can get Foote.

They’re not getting Heiskanen from the Stars, but they can get Honka.

They’re not getting Makar from the Avs, but they can get Timmins.

They’re not getting Glass from Vegas, but they can get Suzuki.

Teams aren’t trading Dorion their top prospects.

Tampa can’t even trade their 1st since it’s conditioned to the Rangers if the Bolts win the Cup. They already don’t have their 2nd. I doubt any of Tampa’s players will waive their NTC to go to the circus in Ottawa. Johnson, Palat, Killorn, etc.

If he goes to the Lightning, Dorion is getting fleeced for some combination of Foote, Raddysh, and whatever else.

If he doesn’t get traded to Dallas the real loser in the Karlsson sweepstakes will be The Athletic, they were the only source that had them as the frontrunners AFAIK

I thought any trade for EK had to include Ryan as well - can TB afford to take on Ryan's cap hit even if they somehow get Johnson to waive?

meh....could easily be Ottawa leaking something to try to get Dallas to up their offer

This is my hope. I don't want Karlsson in our division. Both for my own enjoyment of his career, it'll be much more fun following him if he's on a Western team that I have no reason to cheer against, and because it'll create a super team in our division.

Given that Dorion apparently only has three options for an extended Karlsson, TBL, DAL, and VGK; My hope is that Dorion knows he can't waste leverage, does not intend to trade Karlsson to TBL unless he absolutely has to, and is using them to get DAL or VGK to step up.

Either this was never the case, or if it was the Senators have moved off of it.

I'm not saying they weren't shopping Karl+Ryan as a package, only that it may not have been a prerequisite. Or if it was, the Senators have realized they can't make it work and need to be more flexible.

Dallas is similar to the Islanders in that they have tons of scoring but not much from the center position. I don’t know if that’s really the end of the world although many experts tell you after April 10th it is
Dallas was surprisingly ranked 7th in GA (only 15 goals separated them from NSH at 2nd) and tied for 18th in GF. Asides from their top line, no Forward had above 0.5 PPG. Faksa will be their primary shut-down C, I think they still need another top 6 F/C.

Similarly, Kerfoot on COL was the only F asides from the top-line with above 0.5 PPG and he is a bit of a work-in-progress at C from the looks of it (again, could be wrong). I think the addition of TJ could bode well for both teams. COL has tons of trade currency in prospects/picks to make something happen. TJ signed at 5M is a pretty good deal too

Pretty sure we'd trade Stamkos before Point, no ways he's on the table unless it's a center coming back not a defenseman. Sergachev cen bo as long as we keep Foote.

For what it's worth:

Tavares to Toronto - that's scary. Matthews/Tavares 1-2 punch at center, along with all the young talent they have, they can be a legitimate contender for many years. Possibly win a few cups, if things go their way.

Karlsson to Tampa? Shit, we might see the start of a dynasty. That's just scary.

It's crazy how much talent Tampa has.

If this happens, I %100 guarantee point won't be within 10 miles of this deal. Unfortunately sergachev probably is.

Foote, Raddysh, 2 1sts and Callahan.

That would be their 2020 and 2021 firsts. The 2019 first is still tied in with the Rangers if they win the cup this season.

I don't see Tampa trading their first round pick 4 years in a row. Who does Yzerman think he is, Glen Sather?

I bet Gourde is part of the deal. Tampa won't be able to pay him.
