Karlsson is a defensive beast. People harp on him for for playing risky, and thus making some mistakes. but these people don't understand that he was asked and needed to play this way because if Karlsson wasn't doing anything, chances were the whole team wasn't doing anything.
He is not a defensive beast. Hes an offensive dynamo. Not saying he's awful defensively but he's about average. I've seen many games where he will pick up 2pts and give up 2pts in the same period. He's never been a safe defensive player. I remember we never even had him play penalty kill minutes in his early years because he wasnt getting it done (Paul MacLean years). He's improved since then no doubt, but still is high rish and high reward in my books.

NJ is reportedly in on the cap dump (3rd wheel) aspect - how would that work? Who is NJ taking and then receiving for taking the cap dumps?

Lol @ Chicago.
Can't tell if serious or ??

If Serious
You're absolutely right Chicago is great, don't go south of the loop or west of Wicker park, stay out of Cabrini Green, avoid Englewood and W. Englewood, Washington Park, Fuller,New City, etc etc
Ya Know what Why don't we just write off all of South Chicago to save time?
Or better yet, Don't venture out of the Loop on foot, especially any further West than say Chicago Ave put truthfully somewhere between LaSalle and Chicago Ave, or any further south than say idk 31st.
Of course there are nicer areas too, Forest Glen, Norwood and Beverley I think it is.

I'll admit i don't live in the city, but have visited it enough to make a pretty safe assumption that it is a shithole. There are worse NHL cities (Detroit, Newark, St. Louis) jump out but it is definitely lower on the list

best offence is the best defense

his insane outlet passes are why he spends the least amount of time defending

he's the greatest defensive player in the league when he's on his peak ainec

Killorn maybe? Dont think Devils would want to take Callahans contract for 2 years, they have a good team and want to contend. Killorn can contribute in a top 6 or top 9 role, Callahan cant...

foote: good all around dman should be a top 4 dude
katchouk: top 6 crash and bang winger potential
volkov: size and two way ability, underrated stickhandler
raddysh: size and can score goals, if he can get back to 16-17 form hes one of our best
cernak: near nhl ready defensive rhd, should be a 4/5

I honestly don’t think Serg or Point are going anywhere. Something like Johnson, Foote, Katchouk and Raddysh is probably what the deal will be.

Chicago has serious inner-city issues, but I don't think anyone is complaining about a condo on the Magnificent Mile or a mansion in North Shore suburbs like Winnetka (despite the notorious Wet Bandits).

*rolleyes* yeah it’s so different than every major metropolis.

I think Yzerman really wanna move that Killorn contract. Its a fair contract for what he brings but Tampa doesnt need him...Contract is a year or two longer than you would like but still, not that bad.

Was Chara a bad defensive player when he went -21 in the middle of his prime?

That's stupid, plain stupidity. Who the hell gets EK for that, and I may not like the Sens, but that is not fair to the organization, no matter the situation.

A real GM would tell Yzerman to shove that deal up his arse. Point++ should be heading back to Ottawa, just a terrible deal.

Cant see Point beeing traded. Sergachev i can definitely see beeing traded. Hedman-Mcdonagh are Tampas top 4 LH defensemen. They could need to keep Foote because no chance Strålman can re-sign if Karlsson and Kucherov signs new contracts.

EK holds all the cards here, if he only wanna play for Tampa the sens are f***ed. He would basically be a damn expensive one year rental for all the other teams(because he is a f***ing beast) and Yzerman only has to beat the best rental offer to get him for 9 years!

Every major city has issues, but Chicago has a serious violent crime issue in its inner-city. That doesn't mean it isn't a beautiful city or isn't a great place to live. But, compared to some other major cities like Boston, Manhatten or San Francisco, it has a significantly higher violent crime rate. Currently, it does seem the major cities of the mid-West have serious violent crime-rates. Not that I would be against moving to Chicago if I could afford to live in the places I originally mentioned.

If NJ is included, it's to eat big salary. Ottawa wants to move Bobby Ryan, we need to move Callahan. That's over 12 million to NJ.

I do think they'll be compensated with Foote and picks to make up for it, but I dunno. Still seems like a lot.

you would think picks
There is possibility that the Devils aren't just passive party and taking the Lightning's cap dumps. They can also give up their first rounder, prospect or roster player to get a better player or players from the Lightning or Senators. Then the package could be Callahan + something else.

Btw this is why players negotiate a NTC and why teams should be even more careful giving them out. Tampa has a chance to get the sexiest pirate in the f***ing league and they might not be able to because of Killorn and Callahan having a NTC....

Honestly, if EK is supposedly a so called "generational" type D-man, how would you justify a HUGE piece not going back, the situation in Ottawa aside?

I mean do you move a McDavid or a Crosby for a few prospects? would you trade Point for a so called "generational" talent like McDavid?

I am not saying Karlsson is McDavid, but the tag says he is one of the VERY elite at the position he plays, elite in the sense of the decade, and Point+ doesn't go? Larrson for Hall happened, but Karlsson does not get Braydon Point.

I mean you can't keep every single player

Ryan to NJ
Callahan to NY

Four teams in on the deal? Has there ever been a 4 team trade?
