i hope i am right when i say this to your response to others...sarcasm
Oh I know people are joking, but I just wanted to clarify that he's getting his contract terminated. That news came out 2 hrs ago, not sure if everyone knew that. That implies that the issue is more serious than banging Connor's mom. Which in of itself is kinda funny, in that people speculated something absurd, and he actually did something worse?

Perry watching the mom's getting on the bus...

Sprong is lucky he didn't get kicked off the team in the offseason.
For sure. Was not a good PR incident, I think that's why he's keeping his head low. He had this "it is what it is" type of attitude in the interview about his number.

He's worn #41, 11, 10, and 91 before. 10 is officially retired, 91 is sorta retired. 41 is a lame number but maybe he goes with it because 11 is still associated with Zadina and Cleary. I still think 11 anyways.

wtf is wrong with you people?

The fact that Datsyuk thought Corey Perry was the only player he needed to try to punch in the face during his entire career should tell you something.

I mean it's reasonable to wait for the mom's trip to be over.

Very reasonable.

I'd even go as far to dare say it's... fair to wait till after the mom's trip.

Lol, if that was just a ploy for you to slip that joke in but not want to actually sign him… then I’ll allow it.

Gostisbehere is wearing 41 now too
Duh. Good point, not sure why that slipped my mind.

So #11 it is, lol. Of course he could opt to go with a seldom used number like #61. He was assigned 10 in DC, but that wasn't his choice. Apparently his equipment already had 10 on it when he showed up, because 11 is retired for Gartner.

I don't understand how we could have reached this point without already performing a physical

I think the physical is for our personal doctor to see him and not what his medical reports say.

Most teams have the physical after a player is traded in like baseball or football as a confirmation that everything is fine. Lalonde using the word "hurdle" is like using "conditions".

IF lidström says "this is only the start" and we get DeBrincat on multi year and Kane one one year, i think there is more than good things coming for red wings fans.

Yes, that is my take. I'm sure the team has orthopedic specialists in addition to their on ice staff.

I hated him as a Hawk, but you guys, you Americans right there in Michigan, you probably just love your countrymen. :)

Was thinking the same solution...

... and put Ras to Center the 4th line.

Lines at last game:

Veleno - Larkin - Raymond
DeBrincat - Compher - Rasmussen <--- Kane in here.
Fabbri - Copp - Perron
Kostin - Fischer - Sprong <--- Rasmussen in here.

Rotate the 4th line guys.

Is Rasmussen better than Spring?

I disagree. I'd take Kostin out before Sprong.

I am all for a good buzz, that isn't too costly. This is good buzz.

KEY: It is a one year deal. This really surprised me, in a good way.

Yzerman shows the team he supports them early and now they can go prove it or face the deadline with a lump in their throat.

The buzz around the team is great.

The Wings have their own team doctor as well as contracted specialists, not on staff but part of their medical support group for the team on call. Like their “official specialist”. I saw their othropedic surgeon back in 2000 when I crushed my knee. Nice guy.

I have to imagine the condition for this one is he needs to past their own internal medical screen, which he should. My understanding about this surgery isn’t about it not being a “success” like in terms of anything they would see on a screen, but has everything to do with lack of strength, endurance, and eventually pain management. It’s what killed Backstrom in the end, started “strong” in that he could push off of it, but lost strength in it quickly and eventually it became too painful for him to consider it worth it anymore.

Yeah, that is what I meant, as often as they are injured, being an orthopedic specialist for the Wings isn't a full time job. I assume they do a bunch of range of movement tests in addition to what you mentioned.

I'm wondering if the pain is from soft tissue issues as Nick is suspecting or if it's from the bone/implant interface. My mom just had hip replacement, but she doesn't play hockey, lol.

Love this. No real risk involved and he might still be able to pot 15 goals from here on out.

Veleno-Larkin-Raymond
DeBrincat-Compher-Kane
Perron-Copp-Fabbri
Kostin/Fischer-Rasmussen-Sprong

Could swap Fabbri and Veleno too if need be.
