lalonde just said that he will most likely stay with line 1 and 4 together (copp line and larkin line) because they have found chemistry well. so they are inserting kostin in for tomorrows game and he is either going to be on the 2nd line or 3rd line.

I would assume that fabbri moves to line two with dbc and compher. Kostin goes with veleno.

perron - larkin - raymond
dbc - compher - fabbri
kostin - veleno - sprong
ras - copp - fischer

not what I want, but what we will probably need to expect.
I think I’d actually move sprong to line 2 instead. He has had jump lately.

Like about that. Kostin and Veleno had great chemistry at pre-season games, but we haven't seen them together at all on regular season games, since veleno was pushed to Top6 and Kostin was either injured or Bottom6.

Conclusions:

- Larkin & DeBrincat Top2 players, with or without Kane.
- Kane the 2nd-3rd best productive player.
- Big production drop for Fabbri (without Kane), 0.92 --> 0.42 points per game (with Kane on roster)
- Big production drop for Compher (without Kane), 0.79 --> 0.36 ppg (with Kane on roster)
- Raymond, Sprong, Perron, Fischer, Larkin, DeBrincat, slight drop but goes hand-in-hand with the less team production, more close games, not high-scoring madness.
- Rasmussen, Copp, Veleno, slighty better production lately, with Kane (at their own lines)

I think the Fabbri drop is roster based in the sense of the lineup. Fabbri may be too expensive for a 4th liner for some, but he and Sprong thrive in sheltered minutes. Kane's presence allows for both of them to exist on our 4th, thus creating positive match ups offensively for the team. I love both Fabbri and Sprong, but I don't see the need to pull them up the lineup. They are who they are, and the depth of the lineup facilitates their ability to succeed.

I imagine Kane is going to get treated with kid gloves this season so I'm not too worried about him. Give him time to get into game shape, shelter him, and then resign him in the summer or trade him at the deadline.

Kane is the kind of guy whose game won't really decline until he hits 38-39, especially with the reduced number of games and lack of playoffs from 2019 to now.

Yeah, I think so too. I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a 4 year deal. Would probably bring his cap down, and if his hip breaks, off to LTIR.

Some other stats from early 24 games without Kane, and last 19 games with Kane:

Goals For/Against
- Without Kane, first 24 games, GF/60, 3.75
- Without Kane, first 24 games, GA/60, 2.92
- Without Kane, first 24 games, GF%, 56.2%

- With Kane, last 19 games, GF/60, 3.22 (drop from 3.75)
- With Kane, last 19 games, GA/60, 3.79 (raise from 2.92)
- With Kane, last 19 games, GF%, 45.9% (drop from 56.2%)

Expected Goals for/against:
- Without Kane, first 24 games, xGF/60, 2.99
- Without Kane, first 24 games, xGA/60, 3.21
- Without Kane, first 24 games, xGF%, 48.2%

- With Kane, last 19 games, xGF/60, 2.94 (not really a drop, only 0.05 difference)
- With Kane, last 19 games, xGA/60, 3.27 (not really a drop, only 0.06 difference)
- With Kane, last 19 games, xGF%, 47.4% (not really a drop, only 0.8% difference)

Those last 10 games have been really good, but those early Kane games, with Larkin and Compher injured, these stats were really bad and dragged down, and I think they don't show the real picture where we are now with Lyon and steadier defence etc.

But huge difference in Goals for and Goals against. Not really any difference in expected goals. Could almost say the goalies have been biggest difference maker.

Tough to draw any conclusions about these. Really just have look more games and see what the Team direction will be.

The lack of info given on Kane is somewhat concerning IMO. It’s just odd. If it’s not serious/long term ….then why not just say something along the lines of “not serious”/“day-to-day”? This whole business of waiting to evaluate him until they get back to DET and just keeping him out until then without any updates is very unusual. I mean they had to have taken a look at his injury by now and have an idea on what it is/his timeline for recovery. One potential reason I can think of is it’s something serious/potentially season ending and they’re seeking second opinions/exploring all options before officially having the surgery/declaring him out for a certain period of time. Hopefully I’m wrong. Hopefully it’s just me being paranoid.

you must be new to the yzerplan.

You must be the guy with the tinfoil hat.

The difference between both leagues.. invented solely by Steve Yzerman. :skeptic:

well....Yzerman isn't an NBA GM

coincidence? I THINK NOT

:sarcasm:

Didn’t Fabbri spend an entire season on IR listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury?

that's Fabbri though, maybe his entire lower body was literally injured :naughty:

I don't how this discussion involves in here (maybe it's an answer for somebody who is on my ignore list), but I think they didn't have to change his status, because team wasn't against cap and they didn't need LTIR space.

Then you can just keep the guy on IR, and not really change his status at all.

It's been a week so they could've retro IR'd him and called someone up for the game and him still play on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see if that happens or if he plays on Tuesday.
