In its simplest form, person A rapes person B, and person B accuses person A of rape, often by going to the police. It can get more complex than that, but others can chime in if they want.
It's tied to the consent process as well. If a male that is boozed and drugged up sleeps with a similar female counterpart, the male is a rapist. Unlike the male, females cannot to sex while intoxicated.

This is quite troublesome for someone like Kane due to his partying lifestyle. Almost everyone is intoxicated....

Based on how many people (including many I know) in other social media outlets, on the radio, and in conversation, have automatically come to Kane's defense immediately and even further in many cases victim-shamed the accuser, I'd say his article would be worth a read for many people. The beauty of this world is one can agree or disagree with that, and choose or choose not to read.

If you are prone to raping people when drunk, maybe drink less.

Oh, please.

Not getting charged, if that happens, is not saying Kane is a victim.

Innocent until proven guilty is ONLY for the court system.
People with money get off when guilty all of the time.

Oh, I completely agree with all of those statements, especially the last sentence. But because he has money and because of his public track record, it makes him an easy target. And I'm going to stop right there and reserve my own speculations as I, you and mostly everyone else has no idea what the facts are.

That's fair.

I have weeded out many sources of idiots over the years. Websites I won't go to. Article and Facebook comment sections that I never read.

Unfortunately when it's actual friends and people you respect posting statuses and comments about things it makes tough to avoid and all the more disappointing to read. But I get ya, I avoid the general comments on main article pages. It's like being on the main board here.

[mod] I never played junior or professional hockey, but after reading the Rich Clune article and all the comments from other players after it's release, it seems that in a lot of places alcohol is a part of the culture of hockey. Then you look at all the success he's had over the years. When you win the cup, it's a nonstop party. You drink out of it, you take it to bars. You're famous, people are buying you drinks, not that you're paying for them in the first place.

For someone like Kane, he might feel he has to live up to his party boy reputation. I'm no expert, but I think rehab fails a lot because people go in thinking, "If I don't drink for a month, I'll be okay." I've been around enough alcoholics to know that that is rarely the case. It's something mental. They need a wake up call that makes them realize that they have these self-destructive traits that they need to lose. Guilty or not, hopefully this serves as that for Kane.

Sorry, for the little rant. I've seen far too many promising careers and lives ruined by alcoholism.

He's not talking about getting drunk and raping someone, he's talking about how, when two parties are equally intoxicated and equally ostensibly consent to sex, and commit acts that would be completely legal if both parties are sober, then in those cases, the man and only the man will be treated as a rapist.

This is hardly an edge case in the lifestyle Kane is involved in.

All I need to say is **** the Boers and Bernstein show. What a pathetic group of individuals. Their insecurity for the Hawks success is palpable.

Agreed on that article being too preachy.

After the first sentence I immediately closed the article. Trying too hard. These journalist got it all figured out.

But Boers and Bernstein going off about how pathetic people are for being in the 'wait till the facts come out' corner and how disgusting people are and were raised poorly. Guy calls in to bring up USC situation and they scream over him saying he's condoning rape and he's pathetic. This Bernstein guy is the same assclown that gossiped about another grown man's life. These dudes are on the same level as TMZ. Going on and on about how other people are neanderthals, etc. They talk ****ing sports for a living. Zero value added to society. None. And then to add "everybody we're blocking on twitter and facebook has a blackhawks stanley cup profile pic, go figure". Real winners in Chicago media.

The article essentially insinuated that even if Kane isn't charged or found not guilty it's only because he's rich

What happens to these people when something like the Duke lacrosse case comes up? Does the event actually erase itself from their minds when the full story comes out?

That's the problem with media in general, when they're wrong there is no accountability. See Nate Silver's book signal and noise. They can spout whatever they want and have a job tomorrow because there will be another storyline to gossip about. These guys want to talk about how pathetic people are, they spread rumors [mod]

Last I checked the other hockey threads were still active.

Its pointless now chatting about how to clear cap space for Kruger or if someone will eventually take Bickell. This Kane thing could change the direction and potential of the Hawks for years to come. I am so pissed at Kane for putting himself in this position, whatever actually happened and what the final outcome is. Spoiled brat idiot, you have the world by the schnuts and go brain dead. Remember that on ice interview with his Dad after they won the cup? What does his father think of him now....
