From @TheBuffaloNews law-enforcement source: Roseanne Johnson, Erie Cnty DA Special Victims Bureau, is prosecutor assigned to Kane case

This might be a dumb question, but does this means that charges were filed?

So I'm guessing that means charges are coming

Well this sucks. Really hope Kane didn't do it but wouldn't be shocked if he did. Money+Fame can go to your head. He might be a good kid, just blinded. And if he didn't do it, he should be more careful about who he hangs out with. I thought he had a girlfriend? Anyways, a roster without Kane isn't horrible. That being said, is it still possible to win a cup without him?

What are you talking about? You've got to be smarter than this. Maybe you are the one who's blinded. Accusations at this point.

That's not a dumb question. I think a prosecutor can review the evidence presented and determine if charges should be filed. I think (guessing here) based upon that, an arrest warrant can be issued.

Well...if money doesn't "fix" this mess...and if he goes to the slammer...then if we win the Cup without him ..it means that Panarin Dano and TT will all be talking Terasenko money for the points they rack up and we shall be saying Patrick Who? BUT at least we shall have an extra $10.5 mil a year cap space to help on those contracts...

Just means more feature time for these young studs (err...that may be an inappropriate term given the circumstances) ...to become the next big "stars"..

However...none of that promising future takes away from the fact of this Kane embarrassment. ..besmirching the pristine and praised brand of the Indianhead....as mommies and daddies have to explain to the little kiddies why #88 is in the news for this kerfuffle..I would not want to be that M9m or Dad talking to their kinder about their hero Kane and why he is all over the news about something g the kiddies do not understand..Guilt or Innocence is not the issue...Bad publicity...that is the issue sports heroes should never generate ...Getting g caught in such Embarrassments to the good-name of the hero's brand...that is the real problem...Stars who do that should not be kept long 9n the payroll...Fool me once...I forgive you...Fool me twice,I am stupid....Fool me three times...strike three...you gone!

From a legal standpoint...

I know this is certainly a very high profile case, but if this was alleged to happen a week ago and they have the results from a rape kit, wouldn't the DA have enough evidence by now to press charges if that's the way the way the evidence leaned?

Absolutely no part of this process happens that quickly. Rape kits generally take a long time to process and there are often backlogs. Good throughput for some of these labs is a month to six weeks.

What we know right now is that the Police are still in the investigation phase which means the DA has not even been presented the case.

So unless the woman recants or the police find her testimony to be untrustworthy, this will be here for awhile.

Perhaps I didn't word it well enough, but I was talking about if he did in fact do it, how he might be blinded by his money+fame which goes to peoples heads. I wasn't calling him blinded in general. I'm not assuming he did, and in my post I also talk about what he should do assuming it isn't true.

Here's Tim Graham on WGN Radio. Starts around the 7:30 mark.

http://wgnradio.com/2015/08/06/kap-...-tim-graham-patrick-kane-update-from-buffalo/

He doesn't really say anything new, but he does give a broad overview that the tone from his sources is: ‘It’s looking more ominous than not’

Sounds like the reporters have heard more than they're reporting, but are making sure they have all of their facts lined up with their attorneys' approval.

The worst part about all of this is obviously the allegations, but the 2nd worst part is this is only the beginning. This is a process that could end up lasting for a looooooong time. Look at the Voynov case and its longevity.

I can't even begin to express how ****ing disappointed and angry I am about this. Even if it turns out to not be true, how Kane can even put himself in this situation after what happened two summers ago, I have no idea.

It's getting really hard to have an optimistic outlook on this situation.

How about this money goes to girls heads when they look at athletes like ATM machines. Nothing has gone to his head. He met her at a bar she went home with him. Did she think they were going to play scrabble? I hope he got the tip in dunk!!

Let's reverse this and turn it into you or myself. You take a chick home from a bar and the next day police are investigating us. I should have been smarter... maybe we're the victims. We didn't calculate when she got to our houses that she would capitalize on the fact that we were millionaires. It's our fault we didn't take her to a hotel, because it would be more obvious. Bringing her to our homes confused her she thought it was popcorn and movie night.

This has little to do with Kane's maturity. He's a normal 26 year old male.

We have no idea what happened, but your view on consent is laughable at best.

I get the desire to defend Kane, but can we please not act like this girl is a gold digger when we know literally nothing about her or the situation.

Without knowing what actually happened, I don't know how you can say that.

Dude, I took a look at a persepctive of him being guilty and of him being innocent. I didn't come on here and start screaming that he's a rapist or something. I said IF he did it that he might have been blinded by money+fame, which happens. I didn't says "He must be blinded by money and fame because he obviously did it". I don't know if he did, I didn't claim to know. Taking sides and making assumptions at this moment is silly. At this point you're just straw-manning what I was saying so you can make some point.
