Based on the playoff game where he took over last year I'm assuming that he still has some gas left in the tank...that game was amazing and shut the ny hosers up for a couple of days...

Wish Kane all the best. Hope he can catch the Modano numbers before he's done.

I hope KD bought him a nice fruit basket now that Kane built in a distraction to the Perry update they've been sitting on.

Couldn’t care less that he went to Detroit. I just wish he would have went to a more relevant playoff team. Would have liked to see him healthy on one more cup run.

Then again who knows what caliber of player we’re gonna see post hip resurfacing. I’m sure the top end teams diddnt want to take that risk and weren’t offering much.

What are you talking about?

His injury was repaired. I imagine he's going to come out and set the league on fire after finally being healthy for the first time in a couple years. Why would he be "broken"?
Guess the proof will be in the pudding. Here's hoping he is back to close to his former self.
Maybe he signs a one or two year deal and then comes home to Chicago as we're ready to compete for his swan song!

Wings fan here. What can we expect from Kane?

Tough to say.

There’s no doubt his mobility will be impacted, but Kane is a player that dealt damage by slowing the game down rather than speeding it up.

I dont think he’ll be hit as hard as other guys that had this surgery (Kessler, Backstrom, etc) because straight line speed was never his game. He’s always been a floater, not a guy that killed himself up and down the ice for the puck.

He still has his hands and brain. My biggest concern would be lateral movement. He leans on that alot for his shiftiness.

I imagine you’ll get a guy that will produce well enough if deployed as he always was, largely in the ozone against bottom 6 competition. We wont be the engine of a team, but could still be a slightly used turbo-charger for the offense.

He is over the hill and coming off a signifigant injury/surgery, Yzerman is taking a gamble on him.

However it is a very small gamble and if Kane can show any signs of his old self The Dead Things might make the post season. IMHO

Kane played like ass most of last season here, but still put up decent numbers because of the quality player he is. His last two weeks were fantastic, however.

The surgery he had won't be easy to come back from. Not at the level of play you need to play at in this league. But he is still Patrick Kane, so f*** it, maybe he can do it.

Yall are going to hate him defensively though. Even when he's at 100%, he's shit in his own zone.

It's officially official.

Will save you all from seeing the Tweet confirming it from the Wings. Been a long enough day already.

Wings fan coming in peace.

Kane doesn’t sign in Detroit if he didn’t think they would make the playoffs or contend. They have exceeded expectations so far and have a pretty deep team that just got deeper. Also, he’s not going to play until this weekend so you guys don’t have to suffer watching him on Chelios special night. Good luck the rest of the season.

To add-- the travel Versus sitting in one city rehabbing is tough on HIPS... I had Total Hip done... sitting in restaurants is a NO GO for me... sitting on airplane SUCKS... I eat standing most nites.

I am sure techniques have improved... But Hockey is brutal on HIPS
I had a total hip done (left) last December. I can stand/sit/bend/jog anything I did before I hurt it.
Clearly neither of us plays in the NHL (I’m 60 yrs old) but it sounds like you had a bad result.

Bedard vs Kane old school throwdown Thursday!
Kaner might land a couple but CB98 will dig deep with those legs and finish him with a left hook to the liver for the TKO.
Rawr!

2010 SCF game 6 OT.
That was enough for me to love Kane forever.
What a wonderful evening that was.

You can't really compare other players who have had this surgery with Kane. He's been an anomaly his entire career, and I bet this is no different. The sample size is also miniscule.

Kaner is a rink rat and if anyone can come back from that surgery and tear it up, it's him. He also plays RW. An incredibly easy position to play.

I know the Hawks dumped Kane and did not want him back ... but this still stings. I rooted for Kane on the Rangers, but I refuse to do so for the Red Wings. May Kane push the Red Wings into the abyss. Then I'll cheer for Kane when we retire 88.
