100% dependent on how successful the hip surgery is. Definitely will need someone to carry the heavy defensive load.Wings fan here. What can we expect from Kane?

Not a single player has came back to be themselves after getting the surgery he had. Kesler sucked, Backstrom sucked. I think he can be adequate, but he certainly won't be what he was a couple years ago. What are you talking about?
His injury was repaired. I imagine he's going to come out and set the league on fire after finally being healthy for the first time in a couple years. Why would he be "broken"?
That hip resurfacing surgery has been a death sentence for hockey players. Nick Backstrom came back from it last year and is done just 47 games played later. There’s a very real chance that this is it for KaneWhat are you talking about?

The Backstrom result is a lot more concerning than Kesler, because the difference in the style of play. Kane is one of those guys who I think can be effective with less skating power, but I would have thought that of Backstrom and he was absolutely an anchor on the ice. Hope that Kane breaks that trend, even if it is for the DRW.Not a single player has came back to be themselves after getting the surgery he had. Kesler sucked, Backstrom sucked. Kane doesn't play like Backstrom, Kesler, etc. who've had it. That's not to say he won't go the way of them, but for all intents and purposes he's more of a perimeter player especially compared to those guys.
Agree on Kesler, who was a phsyical presence. Would love to hear your thought on Backstrom though? I felt like Kane is similar in neither player had a strong physical presence and both were average/slightly above average skaters with world class hockey IQ and playmaking instincts.Kane doesn't play like Backstrom, Kesler, etc. who've had it. To add-- the travel Versus sitting in one city rehabbing is tough on HIPS... I had Total Hip done... sitting in restaurants is a NO GO for me... sitting on airplane SUCKS... I eat standing most nites.Hip resurfacing surgery is no joke. I wish him the best, but there is a reason the results so far have been so poor when it comes to professional hockey players. It is such a demanding sport on your hips, and the schedule is unforgiving. Its one thing to look good in some skating videos online. Its another for the hip to hold up over months and months of a professional hockey season.
Backy was never a strong skater and relied on his playmaking/IQ very much so. As a center, it will be different obviously too.Agree on Kesler, who was a phsyical presence. Just feel like the game is so much more speed related now that guys who do lose a step (not sure if Kane has or not after the surgery) will struggle.
