Good work by his agent.
Love this kid, glad he's still an RFA after the deal. Sucks they couldn't give him 8 years at a reasonable aav but them the breaks I guess. At least Fox's contract should age well and hopefully set a salary standard for future negotiations.
That’s an apt comparable. Never thought of thatHe won’t be overly old if we sign him to an 8 year deal after this one. 25-33 is fairly safe for a player of his style.
Continues to remind me of Jay Bouwmeester
Love them with Baked Potatoes and butterBut what about Scanlin.
Foxwhen has the Rangers gave a long term contract to a young player in recent years?
I agree with this. The cap should not apply to drafted players, or players that made their NHL debut on your team. There should be no cap penalty for signing/re-signing any drafted player or player that made their NHL debut with the team. Its ridiculous that the NHL penalizes teams when they do something right, and somehow teams like Tampa and Vegas are allowed to circumvent the cap at will and win Cups.
the league absolutely finessed the players union during covid. The cap is not for parity. It’s to keep player costs down.
With a normal 50/50 split, the players wouldn't have gotten their full salaries in 2020-21.the league absolutely finessed the players union during covid.
What would the cap be normally now? with a normal 50/50 split? $95M?
You shouldn't have been. We had the cap space to go long with him and if anyone should be locked up long term, it was Fox.I was shocked they did not bridge Fox.
Yeah I know. With a normal 50/50 split, the players wouldn't have gotten their full salaries in 2020-21.
Depending on exact definitions:when has the Rangers gave a long term contract to a young player in recent years?
They're in a tough position. Some players need the money. The owners don't.the league absolutely finessed the players union during covid.
What would the cap be normally now? with a normal 50/50 split? $95M?
He should have been a casualty already.Which is why he’s going to be the casualty next season. They now obv know what Fox is
All because we couldn’t say no to Trocheck, Trouba, and Goodrow non necessary players.Too many bridges, which is what killed our last core.
Oh well
Should be traded when he has some term then. If (when) they don’t win the Cup this year, ship out Shesty for a haul, Kreider for a haul, and Goodrow and Trouba for cap relief.Igor should probably not be resigned.
Skjei got a 6 year deal coming off his ELC.Depending on exact definitions:
Mika got 5 years when he was 24
McD 6 years at 25
Stepan 6 years at 25
Staal 5 years at 23
EDIT - even Trouba was 'only' 25 with his 7 year deal
