I've been kind of hoping someone would take a shot at Drury having to be bought out of his Ranger's contract; this is fairly close.

Underlying numbers tell me that Kakko either learned to will his teammates to score more goals while he's on the ice and will his goalie to be a wall in net while he's on the ice, or he's just the same mediocre 3rd liner he was each of his first 5 seasons in the league and has just had big ol' puck luck so far this season.

Neat on him for pointing out his +/- while trashing his teammates though. You tell em, champ.

The guy has a short shelf life though. Allways had . 3-4 years max usually and then then players get tired of this shtick

Kaako sounds like something Stars should be interested in if they can . Maybe find a way to have him included in a bigger deal that makes use of the Seguin LTIR ?
He definitely peaks in years 1-3 but this is way too early, something is really off with the rangers but I doubt it’s the coach

He may have had some luck for sure, but it's no coincidence that the only forwards Rangers fans haven't been disappointed in this year are Kakko, Chytil and Cuylle. They've been great as a 3rd line.

Kakko isn't a good 2nd overall pick, but he's a pretty decent 3rd liner, looks like he had enough of his time in New York.

Hope for him he gets traded, that won't solve any of their problems, but would probably solve his.

Yeah Gallants already short shelf life was also shorter with the Rangers. Something is off there.

If you have respect for your teammates, coaches, GM then i agree you don't do that. He obviously doesn't, which may be justified considering all we've been hearing this year. For all we know he may have already done all those things you suggested, and this was a final F it I'm out moment.

I would imagine that’s the case. Either that or he’s never been through something like this before and is struggling with it. But then again, he’s had a particularly difficult path through this whole process so it’s no surprise if he did reach a breaking point.

I think at this point NYR management will just bench him, as they have done before, easy pick - he won't talk.

Now it seems he is pissed about it finally - carrying water for others. I don't think he is some great player, but he certainly hasn't been the one to deserve this treatment this year.

It's like "we did this same thing before, let's do it again".

Good on Kakko for stepping up for himself. He’s obviously tired of being held accountable when he’s been playing well enough to be a regular on the Rangers lineup.

Very odd that he’s the guy out of the lineup when you look at his play, makes 0 sense.

I would assume it’s a personality thing. He might have a strong personality and the coaches don’t like it… otherwise make no sense at all.

I very much doubt he has a "strong personality" in the way you mean. I'd say, as a fellow Finn, he is more likely too passive and just accepts these things. Until now anyway.

Handle it through his captain. Handle it through an assistant coach. Confront his coach face-to-face. Talk to the GM. Have his agent talk to the GM. Demand a trade. Suffer.

The one thing you don’t do is take it to the media. It’s a young man’s mistake to think an audience is going to fix ththings.
If his problem is that he is on a team he doesn't want to be on, going to the media to get an audience may be one of the best ways to fix it.

It was the fastest rebuild ever which derailed pretty fast. Still think they flip that switch soon enough and get on a heater lead by Laffy and spurred on by the Rempe state building.

One of the fastest ways, but that doesn’t mean one of the best.

If a player has a trade demand, he can make that known through his agent without bringing the NYC media down on the situation. Going to reporters instead was a great way to notify every GM in the league that he’s a risk to pull something like this. He’ll get traded because he has to be at this point, but GMs and especially coaches aren’t going to just forget he did this. The idea that he’ll be a “good soldier” just went out the window.
