"Traded to Colorado by Toronto with Calle Rosen and a 3rd-round pick in 2020 NHL Draft for Tyson Barrie, Alexander Kerfoot and a 6th-round pick in 2020 NHL Draft, July 1, 2019"

What a trade, always forget about having to throw a third in there too. What a magician GM.

Dubas is a [REDACTED] who thinks teams can be built around offensive defensemen who can't play defense

Is there a center available that is just as good, but costs a lot less?

Does Alyn McCauley have a son?

I seem to remember liking Rosen too.

Yeah but the trade made sense on paper and Barrie played a lot of minutes in the playoffs with Colorado when they sucked in the playoffs, Dubas was just exceptionally unlucky that Barrie came to Toronto and blew chunks, it didn't work out cause he was unlucky, stop being a hater.

No thank you to that contract and f*** Calgary after the Zadorov and Tanev shit last year

More like thank you Calgary. Can you imagine the assets we’d have to give up to acquire one or both? We still ended up with one and all it cost us was a late round pick.

It would be great to have him back asap. Might be the best chance to win with this core if they can get him this season. Tavares will be goners next season anyway so let’s get Naz back.

The price was reasonable at the beginning of the season they just wanted to charge Tre a premium that only he was subject to to get one or both of them

most fans think Jt is too old.

Guess who was drafted in the same draft year and still has 5 years to go on his deal……no thanks.

They'd need to retain sooooo much, his contract is terrible. (Not a knock on him though, good on him for getting that $.)

I like Kadri, and I think he's probably learned his lessons about dumb suspensions, but there's no fit that makes sense. Also, he's got paid and got his cup, where's the motivation for him to come to Toronto at this point?

4.5m yes
Robertson yes
Niemela NO
2nd rnd absolutely not
David Kampf Yes

It's almost a net gain

Knies Matthews Marner
Jarnkrok Kadri Nylander
Pacioretty Tavares Domi
McMann/Lorentz Holmberg Dewar/Reaves

Or something like that

It's going to be the same with Marner. He's not winning a cup here, maybe somewhere else.

As for Kadri, he is not near enough to the end of that contract for it to make sense I don't feel.

I think player wise, he would be a fit, but the cap doesn't work long term. You can make anything work for one season.

Do we even care about long term any more? People are on Rielly's case because he's declining but he's the youngest Dman in our top 4 and we have dick coming up in our system for the future. Matthews/Marner/Nylander are all old enough that they'll be declining any minute now and the best that we can hope for is that their decline will be gradual.

This roster is gonna be full of holes a couple of years from now, that's the bottom line.
