For a guy who's strength was board play he sure was overpowered and shrugged off the puck easily along the boards. Even after being dropped in the lineup and facing weaker D. Hopefully he can rest up and then rehab back to full strength or even more. Then maybe stick around locally and work out with CK in the off season?

Totally bullspitting here, but maybe that's not a bad idea to spend the summer in North America with, say, Kreider, versus going home and being Rantanen's little brother.

I guess it's good news on Kakko. Curious to know what the injury is.

I've gone back and watched the video and Im pretty confident its an ankle fracture.

I won't repost it out of respect for people who don't want to see it but theres a bit of uh.... bend in his leg where there isn't supposed to be any bend which would be consistent with the above. When your leg gets caught under you it can be several different things (or even multiple things) but we can rule out the more serious knee injuries if its not a season ender.

What does that mean? Could be 2 months or if its like the one Stamkos had (which was pretty bad and needed steel rod insertion) it could be 4+. if its 4+, we have LTIR f***ery at our fingers tips.

I get what you are saying, but I also don't think it's really a fair thing to expect a player to sacrifice. Especially with the European players, they are far away from home and will probably not see their friends and family for most of the year. It's understandable for them to try to enjoy as much of it as they can.

Would it be an awesome thing if he did? Yeah, something for a change. But also something we shouldn't expect.

These days it seems like unless it's a season-ending injury and there's nothing to hide, anything less and they won't disclose the injury. If it was an ACL tear, they would have said it and he was done for the year. Otherwise, it's hopeful, though we have to guess what it was.

Correct, it is a sacrifice to stay in NA for the summer. It's up to him. If he feels the off-season regimen in Finland is working for him, make it so. But that big contract opportunity is coming, so he literally can't afford to stay stale.

Just in time to torch us for 2 goals, 2 assists this Wednesday on national television LMAO.
Also, you got Copp, who we ditched to get Kane the following season, now playing on the same team against us. Expect a revenge game squared.

what else do you need to know? He's injured. He'll be out for some time. Updates will be provided about expected return dates (you can assume). Why are specifics required?
I don’t know if it’s the NHL as a whole or just this franchise, but we won’t get any updates. Do we even know what exactly Fox’ injury was?

but again, do we need to? We know he was injured, we know he'd be a out for a little while because he was placed on LTIR, we know that he's due back against the Wings.
That's all the info we need

Because if we know the specifics, then we can argue here over the proper course of treatment and rehabilitation and generally what's best for him.

He wasn't playing well & now this.

I have a bad feeling it's going to take a while for him to even get back to THIS level once he does return.

This could be a huge step back in his career trajectory. I hope not.

Could be the opposite. Turning point for what was a disappointing start. No one knows.

If it is a few months, and he’s assigned to the A for some conditioning games, its not out of the realm of possibility he gets his confidence back

I was hoping you guys had the medical technology in NYC to do a switch out while he is in medical care and under the knife.....add a pair of gazelle legs and the wolverine attitude . Kakkostein !

We don’t “need” any info. But we deserve more. We pay the bills around here.

There may be some swelling. Sometimes its best to wait for the swelling to go down before making any conclusions.
I am actually surprised they had a diagnosis less than 18 hours after the injury, because of the swelling.

I thought you needed to wait until the swelling subsides to get a clearer mri image… which may suggest he did not require one?

Maybe it’s a high ankle sprain or something that just required x-rays.

The lack of transparency about these injuries is brutal. Fans legitimately have a right to know what’s going on with these players.
They're medical in nature. We actually really don't have a right to know.

Same thing with the player assistance program.

I broke my leg and had a diagnosis less than an hour later.
Breaks are x-rays not MRI. They probably started with an x-ray and went from there.

A big issue with Kakko this season seems to be his off-season training. I don't know if he decided to lose weight to get a step faster, but he has not been his normal strong bull like self in the corners this year. He was getting knocked off the puck and knocked down in the corners with for more regularity than in previous seasons. I don't know if he was already banged up before the injury the other day, but he just didn't seem to be able to keep his feet and protect the puck. The injury itself was another example of him not being as sturdy as usual along the boards. I hope this rehab period allows him to build back some of that missing strength.

I would think however he decided to train this offseason was not quite right. Or he injured himself early in the season and was already playing through some other nagging lower body injury.
