How so? The Canes gave Kotkaniemi a long term contract. If RBA didn't see anything there they wouldn't have done so. In other words that offersheet play is far from over. The Canes are betting that once he grows into that lanky frame of his he'll be damn good player on a GREAT contract for them for a long time.
Yesh but as of the time people would potentially weigh offering one to Kakko, the Canes have a long and expensive commitment to someone who gives nothing

Kakko ranked 2nd in Rangers and 4th in the entire series in scoring chance contributions per 60

GREAT FIND!!! I knew my eyes were not deceiving me. He was very effective in puck control in offensive zone. Further proves our coach is a bone head. He did this twice in the playoffs. What's even more Infuriating is he doesn't own up to his mistake at all. What a dinosaur of a coach he is .

His anger told me that Kakko did something to infuriate Gallant. Never saw him like that the entire season.

Wondering how you know what Gallant told his players.

Am I reading this correctly? You're angry Reaves was scratched?

He was arguably their worst forward of the entire playoffs.
Ummm, what? Never said I knew what Gallant told the players. Is that what you got from my comment? lol
What anger? I saw a quick dismissal of a reaction when asked by the press about the roster moves which is not a good look for him or the team. You can debate that if you wish.
No, I don't think you're reading correctly.
Angry Reaves was scratched... a little. Kind of, yeah angry and disappointed (which comes with the gig as a Ranger fan) that both Kakko and Reaves were scratched for a borderline AHL player and a vet that had no business being on the ice and who coincidentally barely played in a game that was do or die situation.
Was that roster move really the best shot of icing the best roster? Think really hard whether or not its a good look for the coach or team to make that kind of move then not answer the press as to why it was made. Think but don't think too hard because it's not a good look at all.
This is the part where you sell me on Kakko and Reaves not being the difference in a win or loss. Can't answer that but you'd be in the minority to think if Hunt and Strome over Kakko and Reaves gives you a better chance.

I bet Kotkaniemi eventually ends up top 6 for them.
That seems like a safe bet no.
Unless they force it, carolina has a fairly solid top 6 thats not going to be easy to break into, and Kotkaniemi has not shown anything close to the skill needed to break into that top 6. I imagine Carolina looks to see if theres a trade to be made with arizona or maybe the ducks. He's a solid 2 way player now locked into a multi-year deal.

All those scoring chances yet tied with with Shesty with 3 assists. Benching KK was like benching Crosby. Darn horrible coach who got us further than any coach since 2015.

Your argument still fails miserably when this Moronic coach could have Benched Rooney or Hunt. They were bad as 4th liners. Let alone, playing Strome... a coach who was once a plug will favor other plug players. Let Me say this again, GG made a dumb ass move. Let's move on

A plug? I have news for you. That plug was considered one of the better LW in his prime. He made the allstar game and scored 93 points in a season. Get back to me when Kakko does that.

He can't. His plug coach won't play him even though the stats showed he should.

You guys who talk about all of Kakko's limitations, fine. But those chance stats don't lie. They mirror the eye test. The coach took his best line and broke it up. He also didn't play them enough. It led to a series where we didn't have many chances.

We can all be right here. Kakko needs to be better, but he was better than MOST of the guys who played more than him and never got dropped or scratched.

Kakko is imo a way more promising player than Kotkanieni but imo Carolina looks a lot dumber than Montreal for how that played out. They spite signed a so far barely 4th line player to a huge long term deal.
Why does everyone still run with the spite signing narrative? They tried to trade for him for months. They didn't spite sign him, they wanted to acquire him and after months of not being able to do it they figured the 1st and 3rd was worth it for a player that they want to develop. They paid what they had to get the player. They may have had some fun with the number to poke fun but they wanted the player

Will Kakko will score 30 plus goals and 90 plus points like Gallant did if he played more? If so then by all means play Kakko more. KK averaged 15.27 minutes per game for his 7 goals this season. How many minutes per game will he need to score 37 goals and 90 points like the guy you call a plug?

We need a time machine for your nonsense scenario.

I see several issues with Kakko, some more concerning than others.

1. Skating. It’s not good enough. It needs to improve. It can if he works on it.

2. Shot. It’s not good enough. He never had a great shot. He scored a bunch of greasy, in close goals in his draft year. I also remember a knuckleball slapper in the WCs. He does not have to have an elite shot to be an effective scorer.

3. Health. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy. We bag on Jack Hughes for being slight and not fit to handle the rigors of the playoffs, but he’s played more regular season games than KK has. I fear that his metabolic health issues might be contributing to his physical health issues. I don’t see how this gets fixed.

4. Last, but most important to me, Mental Fortitude. I have never seen a player so locked into his own head. He has the most prominent swings in effectiveness based on mental state/confidence I think I’ve ever seen. I don’t know him as a person so I have no clue how to motivate him, but I hope the team has ideas, and I hope the player identifies this issue and addresses it.

Where is this player?

Well since we don't have a time machine why dont you tell me how many minutes per game it would have taken KK to score 30 goals this season. He averaged 15.27 minutes a game.
Im rooting for KK but its absurd that a few fans bash our coaches for his play. His play is his play. When he plays well he deserves the praise. When he doesn't he deserves the blame.

Can we agree that there is a good chance Kakko wouldn't have put up those numbers in GG's spot but also a pretty good chance that Kakko would have made better lineup decisions against TB?
