He’s been pretty good most of the season but yeah, kid line is stale now and both he and Chytil have been pretty invisible lately . Tarasenko and Kane coming in probably has a lot to do with it.
Yeah, I think that has a lot to do with it. My guess is he's a little fed up with his playing time and maybe with the Rangers altogether. Which is too bad, because he obviously has ability. I wonder what kind of coaching they get.

I just want to see him skate with the puck with initiative to the net. He uses his size to great effect to shield the puck near the boards and around the perimeter, but he needs a bit more Chytil or Gauthier in his approach. Just force the defense to make a play. Take it to the net, wreak havoc.
NO....NOT MORE Gauthier, we want him to score. He needs to shoot the damn puck instead of trying to skate it into the net

Some rough translations from a piece few days ago:
"Of course you have to deal with it mentally (getting new star players into the team). You get some new guys in, and I didn't get any PP time in the last game. I still think I have something to give there. On the other hand, I'm not thinking about that when it comes to this season. As long as the PP works, I don't care if I'm there."

"When I get to the ice, I try to make the most of it. Focus is now on making a run. Obviously you'd like to play as much as possible, but we have such a roster now that you have to have a team-first mentality right now.

The one thing about Kakko's play this year is that there is zero chance he is going to be scratched at any point in the playoffs like last year. He is absolutely needed in the lineup and the improvement is obvious. These trades obviously nuked Kakko's playing time and there is no doubt that he wants to be out there more because he is a world class athlete and that means he is a competitive psycho. But also he is simply struggling at the moment and I don't think this is too related to this current issue and rather just a standard slump mixed with growing pains.

One thing I really liked about Gallant the other day is putting Kakko on the shootout. Kakko was the next shift on in the OT but because of the penalty he had to sit it out. It's clear that he needs playing time but unfortunately for him moves were made to bring cup winners to the organization. It is what it is.

Everyone was saying the same thing about Lafreniere, while praising Kakko just a few weeks ago.

I’m not defending the lack of production, but they’re not standing out because the whole Top 9 has been rancid lately.

His refusal to shoot is an issue. So frustrating

The whole team in general passes up so many opportunities to shoot.

I just wish for ONE game they would say "you know what, if we are in the zone with an open look we are sending it on net"
That’s the part of his game that drives me nuts, but it seems to be a team wide issue.

How many goals do we see where guys just throw the puck on net and get a deflection or bank in a rebound?

The first two games Motte came to the team he threw about 6 or 7 pucks to the net from all areas of the ice and it resulted in 2 goals. He may not have gotten an assist but the point of focus (especially in the playoffs) should be the net, where the goal cage is - not elsewhere to create a perfect tic-tac-toe goal.

So many players on this team dont want to score a goal. They want someone else to. That boggles my f***ing mind when winning is based on the amount of goals you score, not pretty passes that result in tap-ins. We see so many goals in the NHL and against Shesty with guys just throwing it on net. Get the puck where it belongs when you have a lane to send it there.

I wouldn't blame him if he asks for a trade this summer if Kane and/or Tarasenko re-sign. Gallant has coached all offensive confidence out of him and laf. What a waste.
Neither is happening unless they take league minimum, or we would have to trade away some players.

And I don't think Kakko would ask for a trade. Not as long as he's under contract.

I dont see how Gallant is coaching the confidence out of him. Last year it was a little puzzling when he had him on the 4th line and then made zero sense when he scratched him in the last playoff game against TB. But this year he's given him plenty of rope and opportunities.

It was more Quinn that messed with his head, imo.

Regardless, hes in a little funk right now.
Its obvious he is becoming a streaky player and needs to learn how to stay consistent.

Just pulling some random quotes from this thread from different time periods:

3-5-8(+5, 15 shots) in a 7 game stretch, Then 0-0-0 (-3, 9 shots) in his next 6.
On pace for a 60 point season.
5,5,10 in his last 12
Thats a 56 point pace over 82, even with all the third assists.
The last 8 games have been PPG.
6 goals, 13 assists, 19 points in the past 25 games. Passing the eye test as well.
Officially on pace for 20 goals

He’s been a 60+ point player since the Vegas game, 25 games - 0.76 ppg.
If the kids keep this tear up 15G-35A-50P isn’t out of the question. Not bad all things considered.

And now:

The last 12 games hes fallen off the map 1G, 2A, -4, 9 shots, 1 shot in his last 6 games.

It will come around again. Hopefully just in time for the playoffs.

Wait 1 shot in his last 6 games??? WTF. That's Kravtsov territory. Kid needs to wake up again. I'm sorry that is pathetic. Even with his 12 min a game or so you have to find a way to get more shots on net.
