If it could have been done but hasn't been done yet that should be a fireable offense for someone in our org

If Kakko himself doesn’t realize the org should provide him all the help he needs.
There’s a lot of money depending on these top picks for teams.

& the work has to be done within the next few years when he’s still young

Does Kakko not have enough money to hire his own personal skating coach?
We are literally worth 2 billion and are the most valuable franchise. and we should make our players pay for their own coaches? we should exercise our financial might wherever we can... hire the best analytics guys, best coaches, give our players every luxury possible, help players get endorsements to attract free agents

So there are limits to what the org can do in the off season as defined by the CBA.
They can give contact information out, but they cannot pay someone to work with them during the off season specifically.

They can have a training facility open and accessable.

But they can't say "hey do this in the off season"

Is that still possible? if his skating was going to improve wouldn't it already have done so by year 4?

His skating and his first step has already improved drastically even since last year. It’s been pretty noticeable to me and I’ve gotten on Kakko pretty hard in the past. I don’t know if it can improve even further, or by how much, but he’s already shown a lot of improvement there. Other than finding a way to finish his chances, I think skating and acceleration were the biggest flaws in his game. He was slow and a bit cumbersome. Now he’s not.

Gallant said in the postgame:

"Kakko has be outstanding, been one of our best players the last 3 games. That's what you're looking for, take off, keep playing with confidence. He's played great hockey with those two guys. He's been a good player all year, but I found that the last 3 games he's going to another level"

Maybe you'll actually leave him there after a loss or two? Maybe?

Rantanen's skating has also improved leaps and bounds only this last year, and he is 26, so there's plenty of time for Kakko to polish his skating further. I'd say Kakko's edges are better than Mikko's but Mikko has better speed.

Kind of besides the point.

I'm sure there are ways around that.

What's impressed me with Kakko is he has always been good in the corners making moves and possessing the puck, but this season he's learned to move with the puck into space with purpose, drawing defenders to him to open up space for his teammates, keeping his head up and timing passes perfectly.

Past few years he was looking to take the puck for himself or wrapped it back around in a cycle when defenders would close in on him, now he's using his possession to create shots from the point and set up higher danger chances. It also helps he is playing with Mika and Kreids who have more experience.

He's also beginning to lure defenders into corners and areas of the ice that lead to shot lanes opening for himself. Watch out, because this is the stuff he would do before the NHL and he would wreck games.

He also is continuing to make smart plays with the puck. His decision in his own zone before Chytil's empty netter lead to that goal. He is processing the game at a very high level and he's been this teams most consistent forward in that regard

Very pleased with Kakko's play this year. The puck luck will eventually come to him. He has more confidence and it shows. Also seems to have a ton of fan support. I think he'll continue to improve and may even be a Selke candidate one day. Think Kreider's offense with Jan Erixon's defense.
