The era-adjusted goal metric paints a pretty good picture. We average around 5.7 goals per game in the NHL today. When Gretz was at his height the average game had 8 goals, or around 33% more.

Ovechkin will easily pass Jagr's mark. He may even pass Gretz in raw goals which is insane. Ovechkin would have put up 100+ per season easily in the 80s.
