I'll counter with the fact that this never stopped either Rick Nash or Alex Frolov from posting many 30 goal seasons.

I don't know if Nash was THAT bad. He was a career 12.6% shooter I think. Well, he wasn't Brett Hull or anything, but I think his shot was still better than where Kakko is right now.

Frolov had a couple of seasons near 18% which is really high. A few more seasons around 14%. He didn't even play that long in the NHL, but I would hardly call him a bad shooter. Not eveyone has a booming slapshot. But some guys have great wrist shots. Anyway, I think Kakko needs help with both.

Laf on the other hand has a wicked wrister. His slapshot isn't so spectacular though.

Selänne didnt have a hard shot either. Scored some anyways.

It's not necessarily a matter of a hard shot. Accuracy, timing, quickness all count. A lot of great scorers didn't have booming shlapshots. But they had sick wrist shots, or very fast wristers and accurate.

Yeah, but I don't think Kaapo has big problems in the accuracy department. It's more that he doesn't shoot.

He definitely could shoot more, but he shoots around an average amount for players his age. Compared to like, good shooters, who have around the same amount of shots. If you compare him to actual goal scorers like say Farabee or Boeser, who tend to have higher S%. All though Boesers 19-20 season was pretty poor by his own standards. But that's not quite KK's game. His first two years he's at 9.2% year 1, 11.1% year 2. Which are both within average range, but a bit below for most goal scoring forwards. It would be nice if he could become an above average shooter at least. Guess will have to see.

I can skate for hours. I can chase a ball (hoops/football) for hours but I could never run just to run. I get so bored. How do you get over the boredom just running?

I spend some time alone, which I enjoy, listen to music and find new places to run. And as others have mentioned I find it be a bit of a mind-clearing active meditation.

Also became addicted to the post-run high. There are days where I just feel like shit and haven’t been eating well and I’ll just run the engine out and completely turn the table.

I’m also lucky to live in a nice neighborhood with a lake and enjoy running through all of the towns and finding little back paths that cut through it all.

It will improve as he (1) stops hesitating and (2) gets the puck in good shooting positions more consistently.

(2) is tied to growing into his body so that he feels confident in all areas of the ice.

In other words, patience my friends.

kakko wanted to improve his stamina and total body strength so hes decided to swim to NYC from turku. shud be here by november.

On a serious note, I got the impression he was still in Finland yesterday. The interviews he did during August/earlier summer he said he would travel to NYC aroun mid-September. So next week I guess?

I wonder how many times each day Kakko thinks about his body and the fact that it's still growing. Obsessively. Like we do.
