He’s an incredible stickhandler.

His rookie year you saw it, but only in the corners. He was too nervous to carry the puck for long in the neutral zone.

It got better last season, but was still a work in progress and see-sawed as his confidence did.

Hope we see more of last night this year. He commanded the puck.

He needs confidence, he needs some of the cockiness Jack Hughes has. Hughes turns the puck over left right and center but it never stops him, he always loves to have the puck and attack. Idk if its a difference in personality or DQ spooked it out of him but hopefully Kakko starts showing more of that mindset.

I have no doubt about that when you look at his comments about DQ.

Kakko mentioned it in his most recent interview that he was confused that not everyone faces the same consequences for turning over the puck etc.

That's Gallant's easiest win as a coach IMO, to instill confidence in guys like Kakko and Kravtsov and don't bench them every time a puck bounces off their stick. I think that could even re-ignite Gauthier.

lol Kakko isn't letting that go, is he?

Well there's nothing to be confused about. It's fairly obvious someone like Zibanejad and Panarin will not face the same consequences for turning over the puck as an inexperienced young player would.

Sure, but does it need to be that way? In my opinion, that's a poor way to develop a skilled player, giving him the message to make safe plays instead of creative ones.

I think it depends on the volume and the risk/reward. A young player who turns the puck over the same way repeatedly, but also repeatedly has success making the same kind of play is different than one who’s mostly making errors.

like Kakko deserved the criticism and short leash his first year to some extent, but the second year he probably should’ve gotten more ice time not less.

It's simple psychology, and it's crazy to think that Quinn didn't get that.

It should not be that way but it's fairly obvious that it is and it's odd to be confused by the fact that's how things are.

I mean I'm sure he understands it. It's not a fair world. Doesn't mean he has to like it.

I don't think it's ridiculous to be harder on rookies and young players than established star players; but my problem with Quinn is that he preached forecheck and hardwork on Kakko and Chytil all year while Panarin Strome Kreider and Zib did whatever the f*** they wanted not even pretending to buy into a system. It's a stark difference.

there's different types of risk/reward plays and where to make things happen that sometimes rookies have to learn at the NHL level...even productive NHLers get benched for repeatedly turning the puck over in bad spots.
but yeah when you're gonna score 40 goals or 90 points then you get a lot of slack

hope it now over and kakko getting to be played for full like no other player at this team. i remember i hearing zibanjenad to be worked out for having superlong contract in days or so, but i would rather see kakko to be if being team headquarters boss so....to be dressed for De Herodress for future here and no one else. all this as i suppose kakko now not anymore shy boy and team leaders bosses and coaches an stuff as seeing him this season drawing conclusion that he is Player big P. no more striptease no more flashes. today they must to be knowing things? start this season Kakko at first line playing biggest minutes in team and soon there can be desicions made. i would be surprised if still shying out and setted to lower lines. but hey,...important here if wanting answers and so pumping maximum confidende and letting work peace to be spread there as for kakko.......let him be king here ..tell him he is the one...let him have it all from start and see if he taking it...then make moves and build more around team. ...no more outside playoff from now on...to be accepted. let kakko playing over 26 min in games. let the other players swallowing this or sell them away

kakko over 130 points this season? . it is time now. maybe putting him a long hair indian style toffeehair to give finger with ? seem some saying he need more cool outside hall i dont know. musselIndian? i also hear he built up mussel at summertime?
