……. Aaaaaaaaand I’m dead. Just dead…..
Am I in your will?
Not shitting on the top 6, I think they've been phenomenal if we're looking at the series as a whole. If we're isolating it to last game only, they weren't good enough.
All great players, but we need them do it in a close-out game. If Samsonov allows three muffins, make that irrelevant by scoring six. The pressure they're under is self-imposed. Up to them to stick a pin in that balloon.

Holl is literally re incarnating the spirit of Jake Gardiner. How does this not bother anyone?

He was an idiot out there last night.

Cooper is targeting him.

Now the entire city of Tampa and Toronto and all NHL fans know he’s our weak link.

Sheldon’s puts him on, I can’t wait for him to go back in the AHL with his simp tail between his arse

You almost have to swap Holl for Lilly now imo.

Holl will be feeling pressure and we already know he can't handle the big moments so just remove him simple solution.

They clearly don't trust Lilly either though and I don't blame them that either. Young inexperienced winger is one thing (Knies) but young inexperienced dman in the playoffs could be trouble.

Keefe is already backing off Holl and he'll put in Lily because he's already backing down on Holl.

How is Holl so connected with the media. Even dangle is getting text from insiders asking him to take it easy on Justin via media.

I honestly feel like we need to turn the spotlight souly on Sheldon and put the pressure on him to make a change.

For a guy who used the blender for the last twenty games… this sticking with it is insanity.

Hayes is saying you can't play Holl. Credit to Hayes for changing his opinion on Liljegren, but we know what he thought of him before, and he wants Lilly playing over Holl. He mentioned Lilly struggled last 10-12 games, but was very solid before then.

It just pisses me off that Lili would've been benched and in the press box by now playing like Holl and Gio in these playoffs. At this point why not just play Gus or Lili or both. 4th line could really use a d pair that could move the puck and help them produce offence and Gio and Holl aren't doing that.

It still blows my mind how many goals against this guy has actively played a role in.

Just last game the massive whiff on a hit, followed up with somehow dropping his stick.

The next goal he for some reason pivots in the opposite direction to give gap and a lane. 95% of NHL d men make a poke check and breaks up that rush with ease, but not for holl.

I think Holl’s going to be in the lineup and he’s going to play better away from Toronto. But maybe this is the kind of galaxy brain game where you go 11F with Bunting in for Lafferty and ZAR and go 7D with Liljegren dipping his toes.

Holl’s biggest problems are that as a defenseman with a limited skillset he’s got too much of a green light to roam. The term “Holl in deep” is just familiar and scary. The other thing too is he has a really poor sense of body positioning and over relies on the poke and stick/length defending. The guy is also way too casual on reading developing plays.

If he didn’t have the transition game freedom to roam and was just more committed to soundly separating body from puck, sealing walls and staying in defending lanes he wouldn’t have these exploited moments.

Also doesn’t help that Gio is aging decades before our eyes this series. His former Norris Trophy winning blanket is unable to protect him.

This is why I could never bring myself to drink the Holl koolaid during the regular season. He played the part well in the regular season and had most people fooled but the time has come and he's being exposed for what he really is - he's a #6/7 injury replacement sort of guy who we have playing WAYYYY in over his head.

I remember one of Keefe's quotes about him earlier in the year where he was scoffing at the Holl criticism earlier in the year and said "Holl is a resilient guy, he'll get through it"

Well it's gonna be real f***ing interesting to see if Holl is resilient enough to overcome this.

Those 10-12 games from Liljegren were simple growing pains - he's still new in the league and figuring things out.

Then our coaching staff like the world class morons they are permanently removed Lilly from the lineup instead of letting him play through the growing pains. Basically the kind of shit that completely stunts a defensemen's development. I guess they weren't content with failing with Sandin and Dermott, and had to fail with Lilly too.

My issue is, how is Lily supposed to gain experience? They gave him only two games last year and nothing so far in this series. If the organization believes in the player, they have to give him a chance. Otherwise, it'll be a Sandin situation where the player will likely demand out for the good of his development and career.

It's a fair question, but a team in the Leafs position isn't going to use the postseason as a development tool

So Lily plays full-time during the season and then nothing in the playoffs? Makes zero sense

Byram had only 49 games under his belt but the Avs had no problems putting him on their 2nd pair for the whole playoffs last year.

Play your 6 best D. Lily is certainly one of them.
