He is good man that is paid a bit to high for what he brings but could add depth to any team. As for this "
Come up with a reasonable scenario where someone takes him on. I’ll wait...". What is the point? You have already stated "5 years at 4.5 mil for a number 6 dman. You’re either gonna have to take on Lucic or package him with something unbelievably good. " So, what ever scenario I present you are going to find fault with it. I exactly the same way I will find fault with your impossible to trade or trade for Lucic bable. Better to focus on the idea of trading Faulk. Another are I disagree with you as I think he is a better option for Toronto than Pesce.

I just honestly don’t think he’s tradeable unless you take back a bad contract or package him with something really good. We can agree on that but I don’t see how you can find fault in my reasoning.

I agree though, this is a faulk to TO thread so I’m happy to hear offers

You saw what I’m offering / what I would pay if I am the TML that is about it. Gardiner was on awful teams on the years before we had Matthews and he was nowhere near they level of s*#$ Faulk was.

I mean I would imagine teams wanting to trade for Gardiner now are doing based on what he is now and not 4 years ago but I guess that’s up to you to decide on that.

Obviously the Canes don’t want Gardiner because they are trying to clear out D and he’s a UFA. If that’s all you’re willing to offer then that’s fine it doesn’t seem like a fit

I don't have a plan for the Leafs to sign Faulk. WTF is your plan? lol
We might not sign him. Rather as it stands now someone already proposed a trade deal. Though if were were to sign him, I suppose trading Zaitsev or Marleau are possibilities.

As I thought... it all relies on trading a guy with a NMC, or another guy that (at least on HF) no one wants. Good luck with that.

It doesn't only mean those two. It is of all the possibilities those two would be the ones we would most like to give up.

I think it would be a mistake to bring another d-man in this late into the season. Takes long enough for one new guy to adjust and Babcock is still tinkering with the pairings.

At this point, I'd prefer they stick with what they have for this season and see what the lay of the land is this Summer once Gardiner walks.

I’d be interested in him as Muzzin’s partner on the second pair. That would involve us completely restructuring the defence though which wouldn’t be very realistic

Rielly - - - Gudas/Other
Muzzin - - Faulk
Dermott - Hainsey

Trade Zaitsev and Gardiner
I like this.

Johnsson has arb rights and is a prime candidate for an offer sheet this off season. Leafs would be smart to move him this year if the return is someone like Pesce.

With the following two exceptions: Kapanen and Johnsson. They are both proven top 6 winger.

8 years in NHL, 2 plus seasons (+1 in years two and this year, a whopping +6). Yup he is a pillar on the blue line. Sorry but talking about two Rookies and me stating that Faulk’s track record are two very different things. The reporting is that your GM wants Kap, not me.
I never said they are proven, both have played up and down the line up and looked great on each line with the exception of the start of the year for Johnsson. Both are on pace between 40-50 points. Both are young and are likely able to be signed for reasonable contract due to no arbitration rights or only one year of service in the NHL.

Faulk to TO makes sense but Carolina needs players now so I don’t see how it works

Leaf fans will want to move Zaitsev but Canes have too many RD

Van R for Brown makes more sense

Since you're the one posting this, how do you make the cap work next year?

Keep in mind:
Marleau has a NMC and isn't going anywhere.
Zaitsev is untradeable without offering a major asset alongside.

Ziatsev is not untradeable.

Ron Hainsey, Hutchinson, Lindholm, Ennis, and Gardiner are all UFAs next season.

When TOR signed Tavares to a multi year 11 million AAV it meant that the Leafs cannot keep their "Big Three". Nylander will likely be traded.

That
Was
Easy
