The general consensus among Ducks fans is that Bob Murray should be fired if Kase is traded for Faulk straight up.

So given Don Waddell's summer, that's probably exactly what's going to happen.

I'm beginning to think he has dick picks of every GM in the league.
Can’t listen to the boards. Faulk with an extension has good value no matter what the rest of the boards or even us here say. If we get a good player it isn’t because Donnie is a genius it’s because Faulk carries far more value than fans give him credit for.

From Ian Tulloch (Kase is his #1 breakout candidate this year, Svech is #2):

Still one of the best kept secrets in the league, I have a feeling Kase is going to have a big-time breakout performance in 2019-20. He’s been scoring at an elite rate over the past two seasons (ranking 36th in the NHL in points per 60 minutes at 5-on-5), but we haven’t seen him put up monster totals yet, largely due to the fact that he hasn’t been given opportunities higher in the lineup.
Now that Anaheim ha
s moved on from Corey Perry, it looks like Kase is going to get significantly more minutes in high-leverage situations (first line at even strength and potentially top unit PP as well).

I can't blame Faulk if he turned down a contract that's less than the current one, and neither can I blame management for not wanting to pay him more than say, Slavin.

So there we are.

I still think we're better off with him than without him, but it sounds like this Kase dude might be worth rolling the dice on.

Thanks GOD we are moving Faulk not Hamilton.

I have a feeling we'll likely be revisiting this exact same situation next offseason, except with Hamilton. And I won't be surprised if/when he gets moved out too. Cap space for that Svechnikov extension will have to come from somewhere. Fortunately we're looking well prepared to fill lineup holes like this over the next 5 years.

Ok, when do we start speculating our new line setup with Kase? Because our forward corps is getting crowded WITHOUT Necas or any Chaotte guys slotting in

I'm going to laugh so hard if the Borg ends up stealing Kase under everyone's noses before the entire league knows who he is, but my bet is still that it's going to be Comtois if Faulk agrees to an extension, which is still a very good get.
Stealing Kase? Before the league knows who he is? He scored 20 goals two years ago. Everyone knows who he is. If they give this guy up they had a good reason to do so.

If an NHL forward is coming in, it won’t surprise me to see one going out with Faulk. Wallmark or McGinn (to a lesser extent) are the only ones that make any sense to me.
I could see one of those guys getting moved. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Wallmark go, if we feel Luo is ready to be fourth line center. Or one of the other Charlotte guys.

If they manage to pull this off, we have to be considered at the forefront of the analytical community in hockey. The moves are too logical and creative not to be. I love how well they are identifying buy low candidates that should not be as undervalued as they are. The change in management's approach is stunning. If things don't work out to make it to the Cup, it damn sure isn't for lack of effort.

The layman hockey fan doesn't yet know who Kase is because he plays for a bad team and was a former 7th round pick. He isn't yet a household name.

So it's like if we traded Aho 2 years ago or Slavin last year before they were well known?

I'd be more surprised by the trade.

5x$6m seems pretty good for him to me. Way more than Gardiner just got
I agree on the trade part of its 1 for 1.

Faulk makes $6m right now so it seems odd he’d not want to go UFA vs signing that with Anaheim.
