Now that we are off the Cooley train it's time to say that we should have drafted Nemec! :sarcasm:

Slaf's doing all the right things so far, but at some point he's gotta start converting on his dekes and shots.

Usually that happens after a year or two. Even if Slaf could do it in another 30 games, some folks will say that took too long and that he would have been quicker playing less time in the NHL.

The last three games are his best yet in the league. Too bad he couldn’t get on the board because he did deserve some points.

His wins on the boards aren’t luck anymore, it’s done in a convincing manner. And he seems to never lose the puck in those situations. At times, he was the best forward on the team.

Points will come, he’s creating way to many chances for that not to happen.

Well he‘s very fast and a top notch skater. Excellent puck distributor. Not a fan of him repeatedly trying to deke crossing the blue line. It ‘s not just a today thing. Low benefit strategy that he’ll need to replace. He should get more involved physically. He’ll get much better as he packs on weight.

I just never understood the Cooley train. He's good but not world beater. If we missed on someone thats Nemec in 2022 and Michkov in 2023. That being said Slaf and Reinbacher can still become great player even if we missed on better players.

a fun little exercise is to use the search function to look up the words "low iq" and limit the results to this thread.

crazy how many posters have completely reassessed their player evaluation criteria in recent weeks
Another fun exercice is also looking at his play right now and realizing its not a high iq game. It doesnt mean hes a bad player.

Mackinnon had a lot of the same comments in his draft year and his first few years, and still look at him.

Slaf’s officially my favorite player on the Habs now.

Constructive criticism: They need to go all in on his offensive training. Not just during regular practices with the rest of the team. He needs some serious 1-on-1 coaching on his offensive game. The rest we all know, he’ll be amazing at.
