Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

He's playing smarter and using his body more recently. I am relieved to see that and he seems to have turned a corner.

He plays good , his pressure on the forecheck is hard to handle and he makes pretty nice heads up pass.

Need to shoot more and understand how to use his size and wingspan , he is be able to generate shooting angle that few players can but wont pull the trigger.

Needs to copy Byfield.

Fair enough. C'est pas sa job de m'impressioner, bien sûr, mais ma job de fan critique c'est de caller c'que je vois, tel que je le vois. Le gars y'a du gros potentiel, mais je veux le voir l'utiliser.

Slaf has a tremendous potential, but I'd like to see him show more, so I can be convinced he's on track to reaching it. My opinion doesn't mean shit, sure, but the same goes for anyone who chime in this early in his development.
This, actually. Yes he's talented, but the sum isn't equal to the parts, not even close.

People are hard tonight on Caufield and Suzuki and others for not finishing Slaf passing plays. But to beat a goalie in the NHL you need an element of surprise. I knew, so did many fans and especially Cam Talbot knew exactly what was unfolding.

Of course, Slaf was setting up the guy in front as always. Zero element of surprise. Talbot already knew in the dressing room before the game. Talbot gets square to the shooter cutting his angle. Despite being a routine save, he looks like a hero. Expect Slaf to make many more goalies look great in the future and make his linemates look like bozos.

And Slaf did miss on a pretty sure goal on the PP.

And by this, I mean that

His finishing abilities are a whole other issue…

But in the meantime, to convert a pass into an assist, Slaf needs goalies to take him seriously as a shooting threat. The book is already out among NHL goalies that he’s not.

I agree physicality is a massive part of his effectiveness, he needs to use his size to make a difference and not many players on our team can bring that so that alone makes him a useful asset to have.

However I think the NHL game is still a little too fast for him and he can be caught on fumbling very simple plays because he takes too much time to make them, and he has no clue on how to play in the DZ. I still think this kid should be in the AHL but I guess a first overall pick playing in minors in his D+2 just doesn't look good on the management so here we are.

Slaf and Dach will be insane together, our future first line
They did look good together so here's hoping Dach can fully recover from his injury.

This is the internet, so I should not be surprised that some people never change an opinion.

My problem is that as a Habs fan I want you to be wrong, because otherwise I'd be rooting for you to become the first poster in the history of the world to ACTUALLY always be right.

Someone makes a substantive comment talking only about hockey and this is the sort of response you have? Is this normal?

It is a kind of a miracle of what is happening with Slaf right now.

You look at him him now and 3 weeks ago and it s like 2 different human being on the ice.

I am dead serious....during the second period last night....I said to myself....: is there 5 or 10 players in the league as good as he is along the boards?

Crosby is for me the best maybe in history along the board. His puck protection technique is unreal since his days in Rimouski.

...Slaf...its not just his strength ... he has always his head up to make a pass from the board. His quick feet to change direction is surprising.

Also, he is able to make good hard passes from his backhand. Even in the Nhl all players are able to make short pass with their backhand but guys like Mcdavid and Crosby for example are so good to make 40 feet passes with strength tape to tape.

His gonna be lethal soon cause he is tough to play against right now and he will help the team so much on puck time possession in the offensive zone something that Suzuki and Caufield were not very good. They are good on the rush.

i watched l'antichambre last night and I was so upset...Brunet and Therrien smashed the team the entire time and they did not talked about Slaf at all

Im echoing what most people are saying but I can't wait for him to light up the score sheet and for the haters to PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS NAME.

Just his stance on the ice you can see there's something special about him. Him starting to win his puck battles he is already kind of a monster bro AT 19 YEARS OLD. I see people talk about potential but the way he's playing right now I haven't seen that kind of skill and talent in any Montreal forward since I started following hockey in 2010.

Maybe peak Suzuki in the playoffs is a comparable but I'm on the slaf hype train for sure a big time player for us in the future.

I think he'll be an all-star in a few years no doubt about it unless something goes wrong like injury or something

I should have highlighted what exactly I was giggling about. It was that someone still believes he should be in the AHL.
