He was a big skilled finesse player when they drafted him. Wanting to change the player at 18-19 years old into something he is not seems like a bone-headed strategy tbh.Hughes said in an interview that part of the reason they rushed Slaf to the NHL was that they didn't want him to be overly reliant on his size, which he would be in lower leagues like LIIGA or AHL.
But then Hughes apparently also said that they don't want Slaf playing like Patrick Hughes, they want him to use his body and his power more.
To me that doesn't add up.
