Slaf needs to not hit the brakes when he hits people. have you noticed how he does that? He led the forwards in hits(not sure) but few of them were big hits. I would love to see him be more like Anderson than Tkachuk. He has great passing skills but needs to play a bit more recklessly.
I also don’t remember many blow-outs where you build a reputation for yourself sending guys to the locker room, even if not his style. If you know a guy plays dirty that gets you thinking. He genuine seems to be afraid to hurt someone sometimes.Except if you play more recklessly it leaves you open to being exploited by getting caught out of position if the player you're targetting for your hit manages to pass the puck just as you're really laying into him.
You can also get penalized for those hits, or potentially even cause an injury and long suspension for yourself if things don't line-up right on a hit along the boards.
It's not that simple.
I think Slafkovsky needs to be more assertive, yes. On that I agree.
But I think that being more reckless isn't the best way for him. Slafkovsky just needs to start gaining more confidence on both sides of the ice, and more poise, as the game will start slowing-down a bit for him in that case, giving Slavkovsky time to make better decisions on the ice and also more confidence overall.
21 is still very, very young for a big forward, and baby steps can morph into giant strides at that age for young pros.
I have to be so careful how I word things here because it becomes the basis for a reply. I just want to see him use his body to deliver hits in a way that leaves a memory for the guy receiving it.Except if you play more recklessly it leaves you open to being exploited by getting caught out of position if the player you're targetting for your hit manages to pass the puck just as you're really laying into him.

So, literally, you hate Slaf and wish him misfortune ? Wow, really he's 21 years old!I have to be so careful how I word things here because it becomes the basis for a reply. I just want to see him use his body to deliver hits in a way that leaves a memory for the guy receiving it.
He slows into a hit, which is the opposite of the way Anderson does it. He has 5 times the talent of Anderson, and I feel if he added more bite to his game he would become a menacing player for the opposition to deal with.

Wooooo there old man moderate yourself.I have to be so careful how I word things here because it becomes the basis for a reply. I just want to see him use his body to deliver hits in a way that leaves a memory for the guy receiving it.

What you did says more about you than me.Wooooo there old man moderate yourself.
Slaf uses his frame, strength, reach to retrieve and win pucks all over the ice, hitting everything has never been his game and it doesnt have to. His game is all about over powering his opponents to get that rubber back and generating possession, forcing turnovers ect. Im kinda surprised alot of people still havent figured out that dimension of his game. I could take his next 3-4 games and make a 5-10 minutes video of him doing all this and some people would still argue that he isnt a real powerfoward, what I find laughable at that point.I have to be so careful how I word things here because it becomes the basis for a reply. He’s too young and I’m too straight but I’d be curious about his gay following if it’s Renaldo-like… Untapped hockey marketing for sure. What you did says more about you than me.
Well, I don't know if you thought I was gay, and I want to add someone who didn't but you haven't been mean to me so I will leave it alone. He’s too young and I’m too straight but I’d be curious about his gay following if it’s Renaldo-like… Untapped hockey marketing for sure.
Yes, I know how he plays but that's the regular season and it wouldn't be the end of the world if he layed a big hit to fire up his team.Slaf uses his frame, strength, reach to retrieve and win pucks all over the ice, hitting everything has never been his game and it doesnt have to. lol; I highlighted the first sentence I spotted seemed coherent and funny because you opened the door with your first sentence (at unfair replies) and the boys were giving you a hard time…Well, I don't know if you thought I was gay, and I want to add someone who didn't but you haven't been mean to me so I will leave it alone.
Thought he just had a great first periodI was really hoping for a playoff beast in Slaf but I don't see any intensity. Maybe that early contract was a bad Idea. He's not hungry.

Best period in a long time. Won several board battles, made a number of good passes and used his shot. Can’t ask for more.Thought he just had a great first period
I don't say he's bad. I just want to see the kid that broke the bike when he first came here. The one playing to win in world juniors or in olympics.Thought he just had a great first period
Strange. The first period he was awesome.I was really hoping for a playoff beast in Slaf but I don't see any intensity. Maybe that early contract was a bad Idea. He's not hungry.
Very strange comment I agree with you.Strange. The first period he was awesome.
Yes he’s not a perfect player. Please watch Slafkovsky on the shift where Caps scored their 1st goal in game #2, watch him during that entire play.
I don't know what this guy is waiting for to start hitting and using his body.
