I was expecting more - but it is what it is

Whom ever says we signed a #6/7 dman for 3m is an "IDIOT" and knows nothing about NHL hockey.

If that's going to be a pairing next season, it's going to be brutal. Sorry to say. Leafs shouldn't touch Polak with a 100 foot pole. Move on. He broke his leg, he won't be the same. It's a business. Polak was not even that good on a healthy leg, he will be worse on a broken one.

I think with this management group, patience is already out the window.

They know what they got, and that they will build teams every season around that.

They know who their core is, and now they trying to add pieces for shots at the cup.

However, management never said anything like this. Hence, merely mentioning it creates a lot of discomfort around here.

What's more patient than keeping the team's youth untouched and adding some short term veteran help to augment lower in the lineup?

Its remrkable how some stil expect every upcoming ufa to be traded due to "asset management". Yet dont consider freeing up cap sapce as an asset on to itself. Guess the signings of the two young sweede defencemen dont constitute asset management. Afterall they didnt cost anything to aquire. Heaven forbit a ufa walks.

A men somebody get's it... I like to put it this way if the organization can't afford to lose players for nothing and gain the cap space, the organization is in real bad shape that regardless of what you would get in return of trading JVR & Bozak wont save it's future.

I'm not sure if we're doing anything until my birthday (the leafs ALWAYS do something around my birthday, it's like tradition now) - or little other minor transactions. (or 1 big one w/a Nylander re-sign).

Every July 1, fans around the league get mad that their teams didn't do anything. In reality, team really can't improve their teams more than they could hurt their team with some of these contracts that get handed out

FA shouldn't really mean much. The core is already built in place way before that. FA is only the sprinkle on top and that's only if the price is right.

Exactly, but that does not seem how it works around here for some.

If one dares mention a young player or a draft choice, then the fireworks start, and the word "patience" is brought out like stick to hammer people with.

But that is not the worst part I find.

The worst part is that when someone suggests a more risky move, people literally freak.

I don't get it. No one here is the nanny of the Toronto Maple Leafs, yet they are in full nanny mode - telling us what is right and wrong, with hardly anything to back it up for discussion purposes.

Relax, we're only talking hockey in the middle of the summer. Yet people react like it is some sort of interrogation.

Go all in on Landeskog. 24yr old Skilled Powerforward. Fits our age core moving forward. Already a Captain of an NHL team to boot. Would be lethal besides Mathews.

Duchene would not play LW, he's one of the best, if not the best, faceoff players in the league.

1) I'd keep Gardiner. No reason to trade him
2) Dermott isn't ready for a Top 4 spot right off the bat
3) I'd rather keep and develop Kapanen in favour of signing Marleau. If we sign Marleau, then JVR is the one to be traded
