I would have preferred lafy go rather than Fil. That Fil brain tho makes it tough to make plans for him even tho he has top 2C upside.

Three 30 something centerman makes me nauseous. I mean troch and miller sounds good but then add in the carcas of what was mika and its down right scary.

Lafy giving off lazy panarin vibes has me worried.
Yikes. Chytil is a hit away from retirement. Laf barely started his career.

Think thats a bit unfair even though I don't agree with the guy myself.

There have been plenty of takes on here that are legitimately garbage that can be called out from people who are way more active.
Its intentionally obtuse posting on his part to draw comparisons between players when he's fully aware that one in Zibanejad is having a borderline 'career down year'

It'd be like chiding Caps fans for getting Adam Oates in the 90's because "Don't you guys already have a 100 point center in Joe Juneau?" when Juneau hadn't been a top line scorer in 5 years.

Every single fan here wants Mika to play like a top 1C again. But he's drawing the laziest of comparisons. We don't know if Mika is declining or just having a shit run. Miller hasnt begun to decline. Players don't have identical aguing trajectories.

Joe Juneau. A name I never would've thought of again in my life.

Interested to see how Mika takes this. He was complaining about his ice time earlier in the season when it was Chytil eating into it, is he gonna be a huge baby now if Miller takes his place on PP1 and in the top 6? He could ask out if that's how it goes.
I think the "complaining" was an overstatement. Mika said something like "all players want more ice time."
I just hope Lavi doesn't staple Miller to PP2 and 3rd line minutes.
I'd be surprised if that happened here. Miller's better than every forward except maybe Panarin.

I'm pretty sure Mika is the one moving out of the top 6 and Miller is moving in. Mika has been a train wreck all year long both offensively and defensively. JT was a 100 point player last year.....he's not going to be on the third line. He's also one of the best face-off guys in the league and plays in all situations. He's stronger and much nastier than Mika and he's the type who will bull his way to the net. I think this deal doesn't portend well for Mika. He's going to lose minutes and there's no way I'd move a 59% face-off guy to the wing for a 50/50 guy who's turned into a perimeter player.

I don't like trading Filip but I also don't like seeing him get hurt all the time. I can't see him sustaining too many more head or neck injuries. His career could easily be over in the next year or two if he takes another big hit.

The 1st whether this year or next year is a valuable asset to be giving up and I think Mancini could be a solid player for years. That said Victor is a right side guy and when the Rangers signed Borgen to 5 years that kind of took away any RD slot opening up for the foreseeable future. We have Fox, Schneider, Borgen and Emery as our top RD prospect.

Also Dorrington is a minute eater and first pair LD for Northeastern a very good college team. I don't know all that much about him but he has size, moves pretty well and is physical. Canucks fans seemed to be fairly high on him. Brannstrom for now looks like an insurance player/trade bait.

It should make the Rangers a much stronger team for the rest of this year. Whether or not they'll make the playoffs or last very long if they do is a question. My guess would be if they did make the playoffs and if they somehow make it to the second round that's about as far as they could possibly get. More likely they'd get bounced in the first round. I do think this trade should give us two very good scoring lines going into next season and much better odds of having a bounce back season. Zibanejad's line flopped so badly this year and is a major reason why we are where we are. It will be hard to move Mika but that should be a main goal going forward. There are other personnel questions but he's the biggest one for now.

I agree that Miller is not going to play as the 3C, that would make no sense. Mika should've been slotted down a long time ago. Either way, this team is still having an 8M cap hit for a 3C. Hopefully they can move Mika, but it's clear they'll need to retain salary.

Dorrington's skating is...decent. And I'm a little concerned because any defender will look good on a good team. I just don't understand the infatuation with stacking the left side with depth guys. They need a legit top pairing LD and frankly have for a long time (probably since Yandle). It's hard to control the play when you have one player on the ice who is consistently not great. K'Andre Miller seems stuck on stupid when it comes to his play and has regressed, and he's the best LD. Lindgren is an AHL player at this point. Vak is decent, and so is Brannstrom, but neither of those guys are top pair guys.

Miller at 31 is also concerning. At least he doesn't rely entirely on his legs to produce but players do slow down around this time.

This just gives off Alexei Kovalev 2.0 vibes. At least the Rangers got something decent when they traded Kovalev the first time. But, similarly, they missed his best seasons, then brought him back.

I mean, they missed Miller's prime, and if they're lucky *might* get a season or two out of it, clearly trying to go all in again, but lacking the pieces to really do so.

If they move Zibanejad and somehow get a legit good top pairing LD out of it, then maybe this might make sense but I can't think of a package that would work especially given their asset management and what they'd send the other way in a trade.

I am perfectly fine with the Trocheck/Miller bromance as long as as that means infectious competitiveness and accountability for everyone in that room. You have to believe that this is exactly why this move was made.

Anyone believe Miller is not a 1C? A 100 point player?
He was a 100-point player last year. This year, not so much. It remains to be seen if he can be that with the Rangers. If he was 27, I'd have a lot more confidence in him being that.

We now have 5 players who are over 30 and are having down years compared to last year. That isn't exactly a recipe for success.
