ÃŽt's more about keeping lines that are working out together. That line was flying vs TB. If they keep it up, I see no reason to break them up.
Long term I think no one will disagree that Cally is a far better player.

I would agree with those that say Miller is not ready, but only up to a point. He may not be ready to claim a spot yet, but he is certainly ready for a taste of the big leagues. Again, it won't rattle this kid's cage if he's out classed a bit. Make no mistake, this kid is a gamer. It's only a matter of time before he's with us full time imo.

I thought that Miller had a great second half at the WJC, and was one of the catalysts, even playing on the top line instead of Galchenyk, who is a more skilled player, but who looked somewhat lost in the last few games of that tournament.
So what happens when the lockout finishes, and 8 games in: Galchenyuk is playing on the Habs third line with another rookie (Gallagher) and Prust, and is looking really good, whereas Miller is just being called up today, even though lots of people on this board are claiming he's not ready (I haven't seen him play for the Whale, so I can't say one way or another).
What it means to me, is if you work hard, are given an opprtunity (a real one), and have chemistry with your linemates, you may suceed. I don't think playing him 4-5 minutes on the 4th line is where he should be playing. Just my opinion.

Im not saying they are... but Miller and Kreider are not big time skill players either, at least not yet.

Glad to see Mashinter get some time in the bottom six. Glad to see Miller, too. Give him a cup of coffee, it couldn't hurt.
Upset, however, that Ferriero got sent down. I thought he was doing a very admirable job in the bottom 6.

Yeah, that's what I suspected. I figure it should be ~24 games. I don't see why it wouldn't be the same proportion.

True but Hagelin and Stepan ain't no 4th liners so a lot of players would do good with them. Callahan is gonna slot in there no doubt. Pyatt was good on the 3rd line too.

6'4 230. Thought he was just a grinder/fighter type, but watching him play, hes a fairly decent skater, and certainly has some offense to his game, though I bet that will not show much at the next level. He does have 7 points in 8 games with the whale.
Certainly willing and able to drop the gloves with anyone, and I suspect its mostly that role that he is being called up for now that Rupp is gone.
But decent skating and some ability to shoot and pass will certainly help him stick.

Would be amazing if Miller could stick, and Kreider returned to what he did last years playoffs.. Once Callahan returned, what would be your lines in this scenario?

I agree with this, I see no reason to break up that Hagelin-Stepan-Pyatt line if they are going to continue to play like they did vs Tampa, even if Callahan is better than any of them.

Playing 5 minutes a night on the 4th line will do wonders for Miller's development.

im sure this was said already but can someone clarify the whole 5 game thing for miller**. Does he get 5 games or is that a non factor because his elc already started in the AHL, or does it have something to do with him not hitting 20 yet?

Well the question posed was, if Miller sticks and Kreider plays like he did in the playoffs.
Unless you play Miller on the third line and Boyle on the 4th, not sure how else to accomodate this.
well Boyle can play the wing with Miller at 3rd line C. That's what I would do. Put Pyatt on that line when Cally is back
Wow, I'm really okay with that line. Though I really like Asham and would love to see him somewhere.

Interesting moves. Personally, I think Ferriero had far more of an impact on the game than Asham. I'd rather have Asham scratched unless it's a particularly feisty opponent and have Ferriero's speed in the bottom 6.
Aside from that, these are exciting moves. Mash will probably stay up as the new Rupp. Miller is probably up to get a taste and help the coaches evaluate where his game is at. You never know how a player with upside will respond to their first taste of the NHL though - maybe he'll end up being one of those guys who plays best at the highest level. We shall see.
I think these moves and the trade for Powe will do wonders for the bottom 6, but I'd expect Ferriero to be in instead of Asham once everyone gets their look.
