Why climb the ladder now when you are still going to end up a few rungs short? Like you said, the other teams are going to decline and unlike Minnesota, they don’t have an elite farm system to replace the talent. Wait a year when Colorado has lost a few pieces and Rossi, Boldy & Addison are fully acclimated and suddenly the Wild aren’t a rung or two short if they want to make a win-now trade
Those teams aren't going to be static at the deadline. You're only increasing the number of rungs that will be needed to surpass those teams

Exactly, so why mortgage the future this year? Everything has gone right and Minnesota still trails Colorado. Next year is likely to be different when Kadri is gone and Minnesota has their prospects who have been overcooking in the AHL up.

But haven't you heard Karpizov might have peaked? Don't you guys care about the cup?
They are only assets as far as they can help the team. You can't just pencil Addison, Lambos or the Wild 2022 1st into any lineup in the next three years. We'd be lucky if 2 of the 3 are even on the Wild roster at the end of the buyouts.

Vancouver
There was some article from a Vancouver based writer that speculated that the Wild might offer that or something similar and I guess certain people took that to mean the Wild definitely offered that and the Canucks declined.
Ben Kuzma is a Canucks mouthpiece (at least for previous management). Anything he speculated on was coming straight from Canucks management.
