Despite all the talks with Miller to NYR, I think Minny is the better trading partner and have a history of having a better scouting/drafting/player development team than NYR. I'd much prefer to trade Miller to Minny than NYR.

Minny is going to need to find creative ways to add talent at the cheapest possible ways as they are embarking on their dead cap space journey.

What better way than getting a point per game powerforward that can play C or W at roughly 2.6 mil/season.

My proposal

To Minny
JT Miller

To Van

2022 1st rnd pick
Addison
Lambos

Might need some tweaking but that’s not a bad opening offer. Addison is a really good prospect, a 1st that’s absolutely ballpark. That retention should drive the price a bit higher though

edit edit edit. I somehow missed the Lambos addition. Vancouver likely has to add something or replace Lambos with another asset like a 2nd and b prospect.

Lambos would be the main target not Addison. Id rather remove Addison than Lambos.

Addison is a nice Dman prospect but he is an undersized offensive Dman. We already have Q Hughes that will play most of those offensive roles. I added him to the trade for value but not necessity.

A no from AKL which means absolutely nothing in reality.

As if your opinion carries any weight in reality?

In any case, it's not my opinion that I shared, it's a report from a reporter who's more connected to Guerin than anyone on this website, that Guerin isn't looking at a move like this, nor is he interested in trading his 1st rounder this year.

It doesn't. I'm stating that response by Russo doesn't indicate at all they'd have no interest in Miller as he's not a rental. There have been several reports, notably from Frank Seravalli, stating that the Wild have shown interest in Miller. Could be nothing, could be something. If Russo comes out and says Wild have zero interest in JT Miller, I'll concede.

I wouldn't want the '22 1st, '23 1st is much more enticing.

You're not getting either. Guerin has shown interest in a lot of players that he never ended up trading for, because he's reiterated many times that he's not trading futures for short term fixes. Best go talk to the NYR fans.

Who say's Miller would be a short term fix? He's signed through next season and very well could re-sign long term after that.

But anyway it's pointless debating with you, you know nothing, I know nothing.

I think we can agree you know nothing about the Wild and their situation, but beyond that, yeah, we'll agree to disagree.

Value seems fair it that’s 50% retained on JT Miller. Nice job. I think Vancouver would do it. Makes Minnesota scary.

Trade makes no sense for MN. This has nothing to do with Miller's value...MN will already have to trade one of Dumba/Fiala/Zuccarello's cap hits in the summer due to the cap hits that are about to hit them from the Suter and Parise buyouts. How in the world would they be able to fit Miller in, also?

Bottom line is that the proposal makes some hockey sense, but zero financial/cap sense . It is unworkable for MN.

Miller at $2.625M for next season would be looked at as a positive for Minnesota, no?

Yeah, but not compared to Rossi at 925K.
I'm telling you, MN is in tight for the next three years. Paying 14-15M in cap to Mr. Nobody is a killer.

As a MN fan, I’m okay with parting with 2 of the 3 assets but adding a third high quality piece is the point where it makes no sense for the Wild and their future. If Vancouver can pull three assets like that in a Miller trade more power to them but it’s hard to reconcile how that team would be MN given their outlook over the next 3yrs.

I don't hate it. I mean Addison's the wrong piece, but I like Lambos.

What about Beckman instead of Addison? Is that too rich?

Edit: I thought this was a Wild fan asking for Miller in the OP, I leave the question up already knowing the answer.

I would trade the '22 1st, Lambos and Beckman for JT @ 50%. I don't put a ton of value on late 1sts like some other Wild fans do though

Minnesota can’t afford Miller at 50% that cap recapture is painful
