And yet some people want Keller with the same shitty stats... As a winger no less.
Keller is much better than Kyrou and Kyrou hasn't played a shift at center in the NHL. He's a winger. He played a few shifts in Sarnia at C early on and was drafted as a C in the OHL.

Advanced stats disagree: Jordan Kyrou - Fantasy Hockey Game Logs, Advanced Stats and more - Frozen Tools

Kyrou has played center for a good part of the season, although I do remember watching some Blues games where he was on the wing, yes.

That's not advanced stats. Nor does it say he's playing center. Its scraped from data NHL makes available and isn't a reflection of the position players play on a line/pair. I'm actually pretty sure its reflection of whose number comes first (left to right). I will bet you anything that Kyrou was not the one centering Robert Thomas. For instance, here's Suzuki's:

Suzuki is not listed in the middle in any line combination, but we've got:

NICK SUZUKI - ALEX NEWHOOK - JOSH ANDERSON
NICK SUZUKI - COLE CAUFIELD - JOSH ANDERSON
NICK SUZUKI - JURAJ SLAFKOVSKY - COLE CAUFIELD
NICK SUZUKI - ALEX NEWHOOK - BRENDAN GALLAGHER
etc.

Kyrou has taken 61 faceoffs in his NHL career total. That's regular season and playoffs combined (355 games). He is not a center.

I thought I was in the Joshua Roy thread
In the spirit of getting things back on track, I’m curious to see where he winds up next year in terms of lines. If they keep the first line together then I suspect we’ll see Roy with Dach and Newhook.

Otherwise it wouldn’t surprise me to see him with Dach and Caufield. That’d give us two solid lines and I don’t think CC and Newhook on the same line makes sense.

Either way, I’m hoping Roy can make a Calder run.

Depends who they acquired during the offseason, I hope he got a shot on the top 6

Believe it or not but Logan Stankoven only played 24 games for Dallas this year and will be eligible for the Calder next season. 24 games and a long play off run and is still considered a rookie next season.

I stay with my comparable Tyler Toffoli for Joshua Roy. I think he will be a very good top 6 player, but can easily become a really good top 9 on a contender team.

If we don't acquire anybody Roy will be given good opportunity
If we acquire an NHL-ready, top-6 forward, maybe Newhook deserves a shot at being the other one, to be fair, but I'd test Roy there as as well, at least.

A Cup-contending Hab roster upfront would look like this to me, in the end:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Drafted top-6 - Dach - Trade-acquired top-6
UFA - Newhook- Roy
XXX -Beck - XXX

At the end of the day, he's able to watch much more than I am, and his evaluations will be much more accurate.

I'll support the moves he makes, and only really judge them a few years down the line.
I actually think it's unfair to judge a trade after the fact when you have the benefit of hindsight. It should be judged at the time imo, it's easy to judge after. Like the Lehky deal looked fine at the time but not so good now.

At 1st you’ve got great odds of getting a superstar. At five, you got great odds of getting a really good player and an outside shot at a superstar.

Kessel was a borderline superstar. Top ten scorer in the 2010s. If he didn’t play in that low scoring era he’d probably go to the HOF.

I wouldn’t give up the 5th for Kyrou.

Yup. I like Kyrou's game but no way I'm trading the 5th pick for Kyrou. I would consider Guhle+ for Kyrou though.

I was one of the ones defending Lehkonen's value. Said it time and time again, he was a victim of being bounced around our line-up with poor center depth.

Still time left with Barron. Lets remember that Lehkonen took off at what age? If Barron can figure out the maturity/trust part in the D zone, he's going to be a top 4RD. The offensive side to his game is pretty good.

Lots of fans loosing patience with Barron to quickly. They may be right that he takes forever to figure it out (like Beaulieu) but he could turn into a Matheson if he does.

Plus we have not selected our player with the Avs 2nd yet. Should be around 55-60 which is a decent dart.

I see your point, but judging a trade before seeing what the incoming player can do for you seems harsh as well.

100% agree. I was arguing at the time with people who thought Lehky would get a 3rd rounder at best. Which was ridiculously undervaluing him. I was fine with the trade then, it would be disingenuous to come out against it now

Yeah, I remember it well. A fair amount of fans were saying he's not worth much. 2nd or 3rd rounders.

What I seen is our coaches leaning on Lehkonen a lot. Moving him from one line to another to help shelter the crappy center.

Fired up to see the progression Joshua Roy makes over a solid summer of training.
I really don't think when everyone is healthy, he is even close to being in the top 6.
I do however see him top 9 and filling in when there are injuries.

I think he has a very good season next year, no reason to send him back down to the AHL.

Based on his upward trajectory over the past 3 seasons I would not be surprised to see him become a productive top 6 especially if he improves his skating a bit.

Lets hope he stays healthy and solidifies a top 6 spot. He's got the game to support one of those lines but lets see how the maturity looks in a complete season.

Would be interesting to see who is in the top 6 and who is on t he 3rd line between Newhook and Roy.... if we add another top 6F this coming season.
