He is officially a trade asset sadly
That's cool
They weren't ALL making the team
Super sucks. He was about to get the call up and then this happens. I was really looking forward to seeing him develop this year.

That's alright though, failure/success... it doesn't matter. What matters is that we use this year as an evaluation for where we're at and where we're going. Newhook for example, has half a year to improve the results. If not, I think he might be toast. He SHOULD have more points than he does but at some point you have to be able to finish your chances.

As for Roy... still a great prospect. Maybe they put him on the 3rd with Evans/Heineman for next year. That might work. I hate the idea of trading him away.

Not a bad call. His chances are slim.
He has to take this offseason incredibly seriously. If not he’s goners. Could very well be gone before that. But we have the luxury of patience unless he can be part of a bigger deal
He should have taken last off season incredibly seriously, a place was his for the taking.

Indeed, Roy got a legitimate chance at the start of the year, the spot was the earned by Heinemen, but now Beck is getting a chance.

There will probably be injuries again next year, but Roy will be competing with the likes of Mesar, Beck, Davidson, and other players I don't know about.

Relative to the start of the year, Demidov and Laine will have pushed everybody down one spot. In life, you have to take your opportunities where you can.

It's Emil Heineman 'panning out' at the moment that is basically sealing Roy's fate unfortunately for him

There are only so many chairs
And those 4th line chairs are going to guys like maybe Davidson, Tuch, Xhekaj
And because of Demidov, Newhook becomes a 3rd liner for the last couple years of that contract (pending a trade)

In a blink, Roy , as it stands in this very moment, is a Trade asset
(His future with us now hinges on injuries, and injuries to particular people)

I agree. Roy really did look good before he turned pro. So far, it's been meh but he's been on a decent development path. I think some Habs fans need to go back and check out Pacioretty's development path and what age he made the NHL full time. Not every one of our prospects will shine right away like Caufield, Hutson and probably Demidov.

Roy will be fine but it will take time. These B+ types are not sure shot NHL players. They are young pieces with some upside and most of them don't show it until the age 23+ years. Our pool is deep so let them battle it out in the AHL. Competition and a deep team in Laval is a good thing.
