I have no faith in either of them.I don't like Roy much as he floats way too much. He doesn't give a good effort. However, I believe in Roy more than in Mesar, relatively.
I've not seen anyone question his confidence? If he gets his confidence back and realizes his window is closing I think he could maybe be a depth bottom 6 scoring winger, but not for us. Feels like that ship has sailed. Other organizations might be open to giving him a look. He might just simply be too slow for the NHL though.
I would have liked to see him traded while he still had some sort of value, maybe something like Newhook + Roy for Crouse + a later rounds draft pick.
both Roy and Mesar can be very frustrating to watch, have been saying it since I started watching them, I didn't mean to point you out so much as I'm just so tired of every day anything I say there's always someone telling me I'm wrong, which isn't so much a problem but when people then tell you they didn't watch or clearly haven't seen as many games as me, I don't get why more people can't just ask questions instead of just telling someone they are wrong.
It's like every day most of the posters here come here with boxing gloves on when they should be bringing a note pad and pen. I've read just about everyone's posts on here over the years and I just don't get why so many are so confident that they are the ones that are right, I mean everyone will get it wrong when discussing prospects as the best scouts are wrong a lot but people just dismiss all the times a poster is right and just focus on a bad call and think well they were wrong on so and so, so I know I am right on this. No discussion, just you are wrong and i'm right, no you are wrong and i'm right, and that just goes on and on and on and on.
They were both 5th round picks.I really thought he'd not be another Hudon. Sad.

Exactly!"...you cannot play in this league coasting for the right play to come your way."
He was more hyped than those other players. I thought Roy would contribute in the big league but he just played in Laval, same with Mailloux. That's not good enough.Realistically he's not playing any worse than Beck, Davidson, Kapanen or even Flo. He is a whipping boy though and I wish he was traded elsewhere, its clear he doesn't have a spot in this organisation and the fans have turned on him even though he's about 140 days older than Beck and a year older than Flojack.
tldr; Bunch of overgrown drama queens ITT.
It doesn't matter what you feel or thought. He's a 5th round pick and he's still super young. He was more hyped than those other players. I thought Roy would contribute in the big league but he just played in Laval, same with Mailloux. That's not good enough.

The issue with Roy is that he did not progress in his second AHL season.
Watching a few playoff games, he does a lot of just standing around.
He wont. Thats just how he plays. Its not different than say Armia or Toffoli. This is definitely the thing to work on. I think particularly in the neutral zone. I think he needs to get on people quicker and take more chances. He plays a very cerebral game, but will need to adjust if he wants to make it. Hopefully he can eventually flip a switch like Farrell did.

Like what ? He's already defensively conscious, he already goes to the dirty areas, he's already good on the cycle. He's just slow and thinks the game instead of being reactive. If he's not willing to add components to his package then he won't make it.

He didn't get a fair shot in Montréal this year, and he's been playing like the rest of the team in Laval. Theres no one that cheats offensively or cherry picks.
See post below. He's not a perfect prospect and has warts, he can be too passive at times, but a lot of that is his playstyle. The same 'passive' play resulted in a breakaway in the 2nd game. The other two gifs are him being aggressive in the corners, winning his puck battles and creating a chance.I might be misinterpreting the games, but I have been finding Roy to be ineffective.
It is ok to grow a bit more reactive and aggressive. Hockey isn't turn based like chess, it's real time.
Here is a couple plays from game 1, as I know most of you just watch the stats page and type BS:

He had a hit right after that boarding too.Might have been one of his most physical games ever tbh. Still surprised he didn't get a call on that boarding looking hit in the first gif, but the ref was probably as surprised as we were and held up.
