I don't like Roy much as he floats way too much. He doesn't give a good effort. However, I believe in Roy more than in Mesar, relatively.

I have no faith in either of them.

He definitely has good offensive instincts, and has a good hockey mind. But it's getting increasingly clear that unless you have Kucherov/Ovechkin level of talent, you cannot play in this league coasting for the right play to come your way. You need to be active and engaged every shift. Roy doesn't do much of that.

He waits positionally for the puck to come into his wheel house, but he doesn't have the high elite skill and quick decision making to turn those few opportunities, low danger opportunities, into scoring chances for himself or linemates.

The nhl has a number of players who put it together in their mid 20s. Unless Roy develops a gear, I don't see this happening.

If he gets his confidence back and realizes his window is closing I think he could maybe be a depth bottom 6 scoring winger, but not for us. Feels like that ship has sailed. Other organizations might be open to giving him a look. He might just simply be too slow for the NHL though.

I would have liked to see him traded while he still had some sort of value, maybe something like Newhook + Roy for Crouse + a later rounds draft pick.

I've not seen anyone question his confidence?
The issue is was and always will be his work rate.

both Roy and Mesar can be very frustrating to watch, have been saying it since I started watching them, I didn't mean to point you out so much as I'm just so tired of every day anything I say there's always someone telling me I'm wrong, which isn't so much a problem but when people then tell you they didn't watch or clearly haven't seen as many games as me, I don't get why more people can't just ask questions instead of just telling someone they are wrong.

It's like every day most of the posters here come here with boxing gloves on when they should be bringing a note pad and pen. I've read just about everyone's posts on here over the years and I just don't get why so many are so confident that they are the ones that are right, I mean everyone will get it wrong when discussing prospects as the best scouts are wrong a lot but people just dismiss all the times a poster is right and just focus on a bad call and think well they were wrong on so and so, so I know I am right on this. No discussion, just you are wrong and i'm right, no you are wrong and i'm right, and that just goes on and on and on and on.

Yes I agree. It's a bit sad too because now I often just don't offer my opinion. I mean you and I have both been around here long enough to know that the answer is usually somewhere in the middle and things can change pretty quickly. It's a very thin line between making it or not. It's easy to get excited one way or the other but a lot of things have to go right for most of these guys and I'm pretty sure they are all doing their best. I remember being at a development camp and watching Balej and Plekanec. Everyone was convinced Balej was the better player and they both stayed late on the ice and worked on their shots and passes etc... they were both extremely skilled but Pleky had a bit extra in the end... Or watching Mcdonaugh and Fisher... from an eye test McDonaugh was clumbsy and lacked mobility while Fisher looked so graceful and cool. In any case I'm happy the development seems to be more on track and guys can work on stuff in Laval. I like Roy's willingness to go to the front of the net... but I would definitely like to see more urgency from him overall... hopefully starting tomorrow night!

Both players you mentioned are frustrating to watch for very different reasons.

Roy is frustrating because he got plenty of opportunities to establish himself but his work ethic sucks.

Mesar was frustrating to watch without the puck. His work ethic with the puck, well, before this year at least was exceptional and fruitful.

You implied alot that his no1 challenge was strengh but what i saw is a lack of understanding of NA hockey. What Mesar needed was proper guidance and teaching of the canadian style of hockey.

Me personally, the only thing i find that you’re not appreciating from Mesar’s game is the very high level of refined talent and skills he possesses in certain areas.

I seen you aknowledge his speed but youve been quiet about his other exceptional attributes.
